Guest guest
Recently I had a discussion with someone closely connected with Ayurveda (The person was marketing head for an Ayurvedic medicines company, but post- retirement, has strong faith in Allopathy and is die hard critique of Ayurveda, for reasons best known to him) He said that Ayurveda is not suitable for health in modern times and the main reason given by him was, lack of any knowledge on Virology, in Ayurveda. Says he, there was a dark period in history of Ayurveda where for thousands of years, no new research was added to the body of knowledge. Especially, when the mankind was shifting from agrarian/ rural to industrial/urban and therefore mass scale systems, Ayurveda was almost in deep slumber. It had woken up now when, almost all the high death rate diseases have their origins in viruses, which Ayurveda does not know anything about. Am a lay man, and honestly, am confused. 1) Does Ayurveda recognize that there are any diseases caused by viruses? 2) Does the imbalance or balance of Doshas affect viruses? 3) Does it have preventive/ management/ elimination treatment for Viruses? Statements in recent postings that ayurvedic framework can address any modern diseases based on dosha concepts, it may be interesting to know how ayurveda can tackle such states. Guest guest
hi i'm sure there are people knowing better ayurvedical terms, so i will not enter this field, but viruses are described in ayurved as external factors of diseases (external =not conected to dosha). there are plants named krimigna for their antiviral, antibiotic anti-fungus and antihelminthic properties. there r also described the reasons why a person gets a viral disease and another doesn't, the subtle causes (the mental wrong attitudes, mental ama that is a subtile auric food for them), how a dhatu/ " tissue " becomes vulnerable to them, the 3 levels of defence against them and so on. there r remedies for all those stepps: to enhance auric protection, to make dhatus not vulnerable, to remove their " subtile food " , to help the immune system, and even plants and remedies having ativiral effects. the difference is that ayurveda puts in same chapter viruses, bacteria and worms, while the microbiology was divided in virusology, bacteriology and parazitology. there are modern researches on plants and anti-viral effects. one of the best is neem. another example is katu rohini which works grate against cito-megalo-virus. or bhringaraj known for effects against viruses and suporting liver function, so good in hepatitis. or echinaceea, stimulating the t-cells and this way helping the body in its fight against viruses. i'm sure that, if u pay the effort of spending some time on net, u will find many lab results of tests donne on plants or on patietes treated by ayurvedic manner. 1 or 2 months ago someone posted here his really touching story. he is a very young man, he got hiv in hospital, if i remember corectly (he is virgin) and by taking ayurvedic treatment he has very good test results and a good general state. maybe u will look for his message. hoping i woke up some trust in your heart for ayurveda, cri ____________ 1) Does Ayurveda recognize that there are any diseases caused by viruses? 2) Does the imbalance or balance of Doshas affect viruses? 3) Does it have preventive/ management/ elimination treatment for Viruses? Guest guest
Hi cri That is an interesting area. The umpteen nos. of microorganism around us in the environment and the fact that any of the friendly or neutral one can attack us in a changed environment makes us vulnerable to their attack through out life. The diseases and the vulnarability to the toxins produced by these organisms when they are multiplied in the body is also unimaginable in number. They often form new diseases in different era like HIV currently. They also be come genetically changed and attack us in a later period as happens for influenca in every 15 years, chickenpox in 50 years etc. So it is not sufficient for us to have an antimicrobial vaccine or medicine to attend each of them or only when they attack us. That is why vyadhikshamathwa become important (tolerance and immunity to illnesses) . This has to be improved in individuals to prevent viral/microbial illnesses When we start practicing antiviral/antimicrobial treatments in ayurveda, we will be surprised to learn that it is almost the same with the principles and practice of mainly agadathanthra (toxicology) and then Bhoothathanthra. We can find a lot of medicines like Vilwadi gulika, sanjeevani vati etc which has antimicrobial / antitoxin activity. ___________________ 1) Does Ayurveda recognize that there are any diseases caused by viruses? 2) Does the imbalance or balance of Doshas affect viruses? 3) Does it have preventive/ management/ elimination treatment for Viruses? Guest guest
Your statements is a serious attack on ayurveda. Ayurveda has withstood all such attacks in past and will do so in future too. Damar tantra and ayurveda paid the attention to microbes much earlier before Louis Pasteur. Others have already written about diseases being caused by external microbes invading the body through food, water, air etc. The recognition by ayurveda that internal microbes (Krimi is general term) growing when ama is present should be adequate to assume that ayurveda has considered diseases originating in microbes. That is the reason so much emphasis on eliminating ama through panch karma. Ayurveda, not taking an antagonistic approach, removes cause of ghrowth of microbes rather than killing. More than that, the toxicity of many herbs and the microbes present therein are removed by treating them with cow urine, cow milk etc should be treated as an indication that ayurveda pays attention to external invasion by microbes even through herbs. Ayurveda relies more on living objects for deriving medicines or dosha balancing actions. In todays time, maximum contribution to the type of diseases you have in mind is paid by Vaidyas, who researched the use of cow products in various ancient texts, devised suitable Panchgavya formulation using cow urine, milk, ghee, curd and applied these to most chronic and even terminal diseases. Global patent for use of cow urine distillate in this fashion has been taken by Indian scientists. Since your question is related to virology, author would include information on uopathy outside india too. Medically, urine is termed " plasma ultrafiltrate. " It is a purified derivative of the blood itself, made by the kidneys whose principal function is regulation of all the elements and their concentrations in the blood. Nutrient-filled blood passes through the liver where toxins are removed to be excreted as solid waste. Eventually, this purified blood undergoes a more extensive filtering process in the kidneys, where excess components not usable at that time by the body are collected in the form of the sterile, watery solution that is urine. Far from being harmful, urine contains known healing agents. Clinical studies have proven that the thousands of critical body chemicals and nutrients that end up in urine reflect the individual body's functions. When re-utilized, these chemicals and nutrients act as natural vaccines, antibacterial, antiviral and anticarcinogenic agents as well as hormone balancers and allergy relievers. For example, melatonin, present in significant amounts in urine, is a natural hormone that has already been proven to help regulate sleep. Muramyl dipeptide, another natural hormone found in urine, mirrors the calming action of serotonin. That is the reason, cow urine and self urine therapy is a spiritual energy enhancing therapy too! If wishing to enhance fertility, one could drink urine high in a specific hormonal content. An example is the panchgavya medicine Nari Sanjivani, to balance the problems of women in peri menopause or PCOS. With the help of Goushala at Akola, author is trying to make some formulations to help tennagers to peri-meno group of women suffering from hormonal imbalances and especially infertility. Same practice is going on in Serono Laboratories in Italy. The labs use the urine of post- menopausal nuns to prepare the pharmaceutical extract Pergonal, in order to stimulate fertility. An important component of urine is urea, a commonly recognized antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral agent. The presence of urea in the urine results from the body's chemical balancing of the sodium chloride and water ratio. When used on a wound, urea causes an osmotic imbalance inside bacteria and fungi that utlimately kills them. Due to its effectiveness, urea is used in many topical ointments and creams sold pharmaceutically, both prescription and OTC. Urea is found in a broad range of medicines used to treat inflammation and is a main ingredient in Herpigon, a medicine used to treat herpes infections. Additionally, urine can smooth and moisturize the skin. Face creams or wrinkle removers most likely contain urea or a derivative of it. According to John Armstrong's 1971 book, The Water of Life, expensive and elegant European facial soaps often contain human, cow or pig urine. Urine therapy is also being used to treat cancer patients. " The Italian surgeon Stanislau R. Burzynski, separated anti-neoplastin from human urine and showed remarkale results in the treatment of cancer, " said B.V. Khare, M.D., a physician from Mumbai, India who advocates urine therapy to his patients. He is a radical doctor in service of humanity. This author has posted many posts on Panchgavya therapy for cancer earlier in the archives. Any wonder why many yogis like Baba Ramdev, Aasarambapu, and notabley all oratories who teach Shreemad Bhagwat in a week long program, are strong advocates of Panchgavya therapy. Those who cant afford cow therapy too, for them self urine therapy is best. Cancer cells release various antigens, some of which appear in the urine. Auto-urotherapy is suggested as a new treatment modality for cancer patients because it provides the intestinal lymphatic system with the many tumor antigens against which antibodies may be produced. These antibodies may infiltrate the blood stream and attack the tumor and its cells. One note of caution. auto-urine theray requires regulated diet consisting of green juices, fruits etc Secondly, it is best to try uropathy after detoxifying liver, so that herxheimer reaction (healing crisis) can be brought to a minimum. Advocates claim that urine is an invaluable source of nourishment and healing that has been too controversial or not financially rewarding enough for it to be encouraged as a potent medicine. However, Dr. Khare insists that " doctors who were under my treatment showed no signs of aging and insisted that urine therapy should be invited to the general public. " It is noteworthy that uropathy comes to us from Damar Tantra, even much before ayurvedic texts were written. It is 98% practice and 2% theory, like any other tantric kriyas. Since these medicines are quite potent, require experience and insight, not avaialable " in depth " in frequently referred texts. One must develop the required understanding through reading texts on urine therapy, experiences etc. The organic farming is made possible only because of cow urine and cow dung. Both organic farming movement and panchgaya movement is spreading to south india, Karanata and Andhra started recently. If whole of India adopts organic farming, there will not remain any need for any anti-bacterial, anti-viral drugs, since organic food builds immunity. Organic farming uses pesticides also made from cow products and herbs. Author used to feel irritation in the nasal passages when Baygon was spread soewhere, so he used one month old cow urine to drive away cockroaches. After use(without killing a single cockroach!), he did not find any cockroach in the kitchen upto 3 months. there was a dark period in history of Ayurveda. where for thousands of years, no new research was added to the body of knowledge. Guest guest
hello, anand i was told about an experiment but i never got to read the study, so it's " second hand " iformation (should i say second ear?). they took 2 samples of cells from same source, put them through sterilisation methods, and than, keeping them in steril environment, they applied on one of them an disturbed frequency wave (i forgot if sound or light, i think sound but i'm not sure). this sample developed a virus (again i forgot which) while the " witness " sample didn't. so the virus was just materialized under the influence of that source of disturbed energy, by the law of rezonance. i'm sory i'm not more precise, but i hope those who become interested on this will search the net and find the original study. pls, if someone finds it, send the link to us too thank you _______________ That is an interesting area.
