Lately I was toying with an idea and the latest letter by someone,

enquiring about cost effective, ideal health spa kind of facility. I

would love the learned members of this group to give their feedback.

Most of the so called ayurvedic health facilities that I have seen,

are nothing but three/five starred recreation facilities. No doubt

they offer authentic Ayurveda treatments, it goes with AC rooms,

multi-cuisine restaurant, concretized AC rooms, television etc. Quite

a few five star hotel chains in India too, are offering these

facilities now.

Supposing here is a place, entirely disconnected from the artificial

needs created by the consumerist world. Right from the first task of

the day, of brushing your teeth, to how and when you sleep, everything

will be in line with what is prescribed by Ayurveda/ Yoga. There are

products available today, as ideal alternatives. The food and diet

regimen will be based on the Prakriti of the person, and will consist

of locally available fruits, vegetables and coarse grains.

The idea is to combine Ayurvedic Panchkarma and Nutrition based on

Prakriti, Yoga, again based on personal health related requirements,

compulsory physical work and meditation/ Vipasyana. The ideal size of

a group should not increase 10- 12 and the duration will vary from

standard four days to requirement/ availability of time with the

person. ( I have purposely avoided the use of word patient here).

No TV, no Newspapers, No phones of any kind, none of electronic

gadgets, you your body, mind and soul will receive only those things,

that are prescribed by a team of experts.

Some time, in the nature, away from everything associated with greed

based systems, away from excessive communication, giving more

opportunity and space to talk to one's inner self and body, thereby

addressing every aspect related to health.

It will be a business where you charge reasonable premium on quality

services rendered.

The million dollar question is....

will there be any takers?

I would love to hear opinions on the idea itself as also with regard

to the question posed in the end.
