Guest guest
Dear Shirish, My prime focus in raising this issue is the safety of the pregnant mother and the child in the womb. I don't need to explain what happens in case of hypoglycaemia, when so much is available on the net. I focussed on my main issue. Whatever means of reducing sugar becomes immaterial, whether karela or fenugreek or any other food item or herb, if proper precautions of monitering are not taken. Use of karela nad fenugreek to control diabetes is used by many as household remedies. But still they land in complications, sometimes to fatal ends, due to over-reliance on these substances and ignoring monitering. This is my personal observation over last eighteen years and I want to make this fact clear to all those who go thro' these mails. May discretion always prevail. Guest guest
Dear Shirish, This may not be the site of Ayurvedic Samhitas or Degreegiving colleges. But whenever and whichever herb is suggested, the total action and the condition / status and prakruti of the patient should also be taken into consideration. That should be the simple outlook I want to emphasise. Just blanket advise does not work for each and everybody, particularly the pregnant patient. We have found many patients have digestive tract upsets due to use of karela and fenugreek. That is why a word of caution. The total effect of the herb, whether food or medicine, should be considered while using the herb under question, whether singly as powder or juice or decoction or heem or fant, as a main stay or as anupana. So when I say Ayurvedic outlook, these factors are to be fixed first before usage, otherwise it's definitely a grandma's approach. As for the other points raised by you, the discussion can go on and on till indifinite periods, because if we are going to consider indiviualistic observations as more important, then there will be many inferences. We have to adhere to some specific rules framed in the medical science including Ayurvedic, if we have to really benefit those seeking opinion on this site.
