Guest guest
Dear Jane, Author is pleaseed to see that some one asks such questions; and also to offer some explaination as to why this as well as one more message By Vaidya Sawant was approved. As you may be aware from several past postings, this moderator knows the situation in Mumbai, where poor patients have to spend the travel cost and time in value as much as the cost of medicines themselves, if they have to get a medicine of particular quality and or specific manufacturer. Most sellers of raw herbs are located in specific area and getting herbs in small quantities is virtually impossible in 70% of Mumbai. Not only one, but at least one hundred more retail outlets can coexist in Mumbai, if they are well distributed geographically. In such a scenario, if some from conventional Pharama changes heart and wishes to start a herbal medicine retail outlet, he should get all assistance from Vaidyas and Dos and Dont's advise. That was the intent in approving the message from Rupali. The connected messages gave all members a picture, what kind of businessmen are jumping into venture, and what are their philosophical outlooks. By the way, it was a hunch, which proved to be correct later, that Rupali wished to fill up the gap of missing herbal medicines outlet in a big area covering sion, chembur, mahul, sindhi colony, govandi, mankhurd, a large area dominated by middle and poor class. There is one outlet by Sandu Pharam, but they sell only a limited number of their own products. Vaidyaratnam also have outlet, but no raw herbs available in such a large area. Secondly, many Vaidyas have prepared some good medicines or tonics which can be used by one and all. Due to missing marketing muscle and lack of note by ayurvedic pharma giants, they get lost in the well advertised products. It is impossible for one vaidya to prepare several medicines himself. In Tamilnadu, there is a society of Vaidyas which prepares and distributes medicines. Author has obtained some good medicines from this society as well as from other Vaidyas at very reasonable prices. Though this website avoids all commercial mails, occasionally, a product made by a member vaidya, especially when it is applicable to children, contents are given, price does not look excessive, it can be circulated. This particular message by Vd. Vaishali Sawant mentioned the contents of the Shatawari Powder for children, and members can make it at home, by asking her the receipe/proportions etc. Most of the herbs she mentioned are available globally. This knowledge should get propogated. That was the thinking of this moderator when approving that message. No matter how accurate the diagnosis, vaidya is only as successful as the quality of medicines that he uses. Looking at the complete thread of " retail outlet " , however, author now realises that the original message, with its pure commercial intent could have been better avoided. Taking cue, author would keep such messages at bay in future. A side effect of that message is also seen, exposing the financial problems of ayurvedic vaidyas even in the mother country of ayurveda. _________________ > So if this was a purely commercial intent when this person joined why was > the mesage approved??
