Guest guest
Dear Group Members, It has been a really long time since I have written to the group. When I started the group 6 years ago, I had to reply to each and every message. Over a period of time that need has changed, as many of the queries get quite varied replies. Also, thanks to Dr. Bhate almost no query goes unanswered even if there are no replies from other members. So wishing us all a fruitful seventh year of operation. Having said that, I must say what prompted me to write this message was the series of messages initiated by http://health.ayurveda/message/10952 especially the very detailed reply at http://health.ayurveda/message/10969 I must say I was disturbed by it as a ayurveda doctor. If you read these messages and the associated messages, you will see that if you need a " good " interior decorator, you " should " be ready to pay a bomb. What if you don't? Well you will have to make do with whatever is avilable. You are starting a ayurveda retail store. What is your motive? Well obviously the footfalls, the margins and the revenues. Benefit of the common man? Well if it comes along with the package, good. Otherwise don't even think about it, we have a business to run and ofcourse all these years when we used to sneer at a " ayurved bhandars " , there was no " global awareness " of ayurveda, so how did you expect us to invest our money in a classy looking ayurveda store. Now that we are assured the money will come, here we are. Will the people in advertising, stockists of medicine, person who sells/rents you the space to run the store give you concession because you are running a ayurveda store. How can they? How will they survive if they don't " think of money " . And yet we feel very proud to state that when it comes to the ayurveda doctor who should be in fact be the center of any such venture (I don't mean to be immodest, but footfalls will surely be reduced if ayurvedic doctors don't prescribe), we casually make a statement - " Have a doctor, who loves Ayurveda more than money " and add further that " It will do wonders! " . What if we don't get such a doctor? My God!!!!, How can you even think of such a thing. Wouldn't you be delighted if ayurveda doctors line up to give one hour of " contribution to society " . So much better for the margins. I don't mean to be a dampener, but every person should think this over. I don't want that ayurveda doctors be given more than their due. But please don't ignore them completely. Don't expect them to behave like saints while living in a material world. Cybervaidya
