Guest guest
Hi Carla ! These POS's can be handled naturally. If you haven't gotten the natural remedies yet, email Joanne at Office and ask her. The listcan go on. The cause is unknown but many alternative health professionals feelthat the cause can be from an SAD diet. A diet rich in processedcarbohydrates, processed sugars, artificial flavors and colors, preservatives, hormones and antibiotics in conventional meat and dairyproducts, pesticides in produce, weight gain (though that is more of achicken/egg theory), exposure of female embryos toxenobiotics--anything that can cause hormonal imbalances.Traditional method of "treating" PCOS only involves treating symptoms: 1. birth control pills for lack of periods2. fertility treatments for lack of ovulation3. Metformin/Glucophage for insulin resistance4. Various medications and treatments for acne, facial hair, darkenedskin from insulin resistance, skin tags, obesity, etc.I'm sure someone else can explain it better. Guest guest
Hi there! I think I didnt make myself clear in my earlier post LOL! I have all the symptoms of PCOS EXCEPT cysts in my ovaries. My symptoms include: thick facial hair, being overweight, and irregular menstraul cycles. The only way I have regulated it before was being on the pill. When Im not on the pill it can be months before I have a cycle. Now in the last year my cycles seem to have regualted more. When I have a cycle it last about 2 weeks maybe 2 and half weeks. Then it would be about 30 to 35 days before I have another one. I want to know what I can do to regulate myself like normal because I am planning on having a baby soon. thanks so much LLM
Guest guest
Hi, LLM - now, something I might actually be able to help with! Sounds like same symptoms that I've had nearly all my life (I'm 41, I started menstruating when I was 14, so for more than 25 years I had screwed up periods!). I started doing Qi Gong, with an initial focus on woman's reproductive health area, 3 years ago, and my periods have been regular ever since, with little fluctuation (and sometimes I went a couple of months without cycling, and when I did it was heavy and extremely painful). I haven't kept up with regular Qi Gong practice, but just every now and then seems to keep me ticking along. Guest guest
I thought I would pipe in here as I was diagnosed with the 'disease while attending acupuncture school and share what worked for me and many of my patients. I truly have the condition the ultrasound showed numerous ''cysts " and my hormone levels were also in synch with PCOS. I also have two daughters which I conceived naturally just with diet and acupuncture, and six gents formula. I was not trained in herbs and found a basic six gents formula to be adequate for me. I really cleaned up my diet and watch my sugar. I have never had a weight problem and have that on my side but did have cystic acne until I cleaned up my diet and minimized coffee and sugar. As a child I had tubes and tonsils out and an appendectomy when I was a teenager. I think that with PCOS in general and my own health history it is a combo of Spleen and Kidney. Treating both really helps me and the patients I have seen with it. I don't use any KI formulas just six gents. I treat the KI with acupuncture and lifestyle, mainly getting lots of rest and not over exercising, or under, still needing some movement to help the Spleen function. I have my patients chart so we can see when they are ovulating. During times when my own body is stalling to ovulate (my low back will ache a bit (KI) and I need extra sleep), I go under my heat lamp and massage the ovary that is attempting to ovulate and I kid you not I feel a release and then my temp spikes and I ovulate. Hope that is helpful. Lisa Dunlevy L.Ac., M.Ac., Dipl. of Ac. (843) 259-9889 lisa http://www.seasideacupuncture.com ----------
