As suggested, try different oils.  We are sensitive to oils but we can use tons

of sunflower oil with no problems.  Sesame made us comfortable and made us itch.

We are pitta/vata.

I am surprised to see a vaidya telling some one to go to a skin specialist where

they will recieve steroid creams to a pply to the delicate skin of a baby.

Breast milk can be applied to babies skin.

Babies skin is often very sensitive for the first couple of months of life as it

adjusts to the abressive external environment.

If oil is not tolerated another can be tried

mild ex foliation can be done with mung dal paste.

Yogurt, cream and haldi can be combined to remove infection if there is any and

to help the skin become soft.

But again, things usually get better after a coule of months.

Ghee can also be applied to the skin without causing heat or irritation.

I would certainly not consider using steroids or artificial creams on delicate

skin.

What is dermatitis - is this a term in ayurveda - it simply means skin

irritation.

As a vaidya how can you suggest going to a skin specialist?

Just curious.

Your baby does not tolerate oils for massage and develops rashes and he is

better with moisture cream. This suggests that he may be having some sort of

skin problem, maybe a mild form of atopic dermatitis.

In such cases, a better judgement should prevail. You should ask for a skin

specialist's opinion.

Over the last few threads related with this issue, I am gathering the

impression that everybody thinks that a oil massage for a baby is a must. I will

somehow differ from this opinion.

<snip> If nothing seems to help, don't forget a medical opinion.
