i'm happy i helped u. if your friend is going to an authentic school with

experienced teachers, and he / she follows the instructions, there is no danger.

Thank you, you have been very helpful. I really wasn't planning on taking the

kundalini class, a friend of mine was going to until I mentioned the potential

danger.

i know at least one person who experienced kundalini rising after

doing swami ramdev's pranayama techniques

its a phenomena that's difficult to predict, and even highly reputed

gurus may not know how to deal with this or be ineffective, as i have

also seen on a few occasions

to anyone experiencing kundalini rising, i recommend gopi krishna's

books - he writes in a genuine, honest and authentic manner

in terms of treatment, my understanding of the phenomena is that it

is akin to " shaman sickness " , and similar methods can be undertaken,

even if only palliative

with regard to diet, eating meat can actually help ground some people

better than any other food, which is an important consideration,

since kundalini sends vata spiraling out of control - it also may be

a useful approach where gluten (wheat/kamut/spelt/rye/barley/oat) and

casein (milk) and/or hypoglycemia are suspected factors in

aggravating/worsening the condition

I have personally seen many people - not just one or two who have been harmed by

kundalini yoga- not due to kundalini awakening, but due to the performing of

pranayama and kriyas in a fashion that is not appropriaate.

The above mentioned people are still not in perfect balance even after years of

treatment, but they are managing a lot better.

The problem seems to be that the training required to teach kundalini yoga is

not very long and so the teachers may not have alot of practice under their

belts and thus, may not know how to guide people according to their needs.

I personally feel that a person should not endeavor to teach yoga without taking

anatomy physiology and without having several years under the guidance of a

highly qualified and experienced teacher.

Yoga schools are popping up everywhere and people who have studied for two weeks

are opening yoga schools.

Yoga and pranayama are very useful, simple and powerful, but they can also be

dangerous if performed incorrectly.

If someone has Kundalini rising and cannot control it, it would be

best for them to see a Kundalini Yoga teacher. Yogi Bhajan always

taught to have control of the kundalini and taught techniques to

control it. One thing they need to do is to pull the locks or

bandhs when meditating. That way the energy can just go up to the

higher centers. Gopi Krishna may describe the kundalini experience

but it gives Kundalini Yoga a bad name. There are specific ways to

deal with it.

Namaste

I took a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training program in the tradition of

Yogi Bhajan and controlling the Kundalini was never mentioned. Perhaps

different teacher training programs address it much better, but not all

3HO teachers will be prepared to help students with kundalini rising.

The head teacher of our teacher training program did not have these

skills.

the guru of our school can do it, i mean control the rise of kundalini. i was at

a conference in a yoga camp. during the conf a lady had a sudden rise of

kundalini not very harmonious, it was really hard, her body was shaking and

twisting without control, and by the sounds coming out of her mouth we could

understand she was suffering. after about 10-15 minutes people told him about

that lady in the room. he looked at her, and in few seconds the uncontrolled

movements of her body just stopped, and she started to feel better.

it's not so hard for a guru, but it might be impossible for a person that only

went through 2 weeks training.

They used to call it shaktipat (?sp) when it happened at Swami Muktananda's

ashram events - not really kundalini is it? ............ related to

chanting and meditation .......... + he had exceptional powers of that

nature

i didn't really understand what do u mean.

the event happened in a conference when he was talking about some spiritual

subject, i forgot what. (it was about 12 years ago). it was not during chanting

or meditation, but while we were listening to his words. after he helped her, he

told us that it was kundalini, mainly at prana-maya-kosha level, which means

etheric or energetic body. he told us that if we r in this situation by

ourselves, we should focus in ajna (3rd eye) and this will increase the control

over this energy.

I did not take the course where you took it. I was " grandfathered " in

the certification. I have heard Yogi Bhajan mention this a few times

though and different teachers have taught it.
