Hi Sharon,

Welcome to the group. Here is what is suggested from the lists files: High Blood Pressure: TotalTonic w/ extra Garlic; Heart Formula; DMSO; Vit E & CoQ10; Enzymes; Panther Piss; The Total Body Cleanse Program. All of these can be found in the files and I will tell you there is a wealth of information within them. Take the time to peruse them. Cayenne and ginger are both quite good at helping normalize BP. But the above will do wonders for anyone. I hope this helps and do not be afraid to ask anything. There is always someone here to help and lots of us are knowlegable in many, many different ways.

[herbal remedies] New to the list

Hello everyone,I recently joined the list and needed some advice for several things but will start with high blood pressure.I have been on medication for HBP since I was 29 year old ( yes it is hereditary ) I am 40 now. I truly think these meds have taken away every ounce of energy in my body and as I age it only becomes worse.I would really like to find a natural way of controlling it. Is it possible to do this or do I just need to find a herbal remedy for energy? It will be hard to include more pills to take I can tell you that. I take LOTS already. I have to take Feverfew for migraines and Valerian to help me sleep at night. Plus my BP meds and a diuretic.I am on a very high dose of meds to control my BP so it is quite a problem.SharonSharon and Alex DavisShady Acres Goat Farm Pine Mt. Sharon,

experiment... one may work while another does not... we are all different... I went thru lots of herbs with my father..He now takes garlic and msm every day = he still has a BP med he takes but they have cut him back on his drugs... His doc says whatever he is doing to keep doing it... he has a cool doc for a medico.... Dad tells him that its me with herbs... (the dr knows me)... We went thru evening primrose, COQ10, garlic, cayenne, combination herbs, etc... Cayenne upset him... he to this day won't take cayenne...lol... he even takes echinacea when needed... Now when he has something going on (he's 85) he calls "Dr. Suzi"... Actually, he has mom call to tell me he needs "Dr. Suzi" lol... I'm daddy's little girl!.. If I tell him it might work he'll try it.... Dad is my "Mikey" (remember Mikey, he'll try anything) So try one herb for a few weeks - if no change, try another... but the total tonic is great stuff...once you get it down...lol. Try it and say garlic to start with.

Hi, everyone,

I'm Deb, but everyone online calls me Serra. I'm a soapmaker in

Southeastern Michigan, just south of Brighton. My fiance shares his home

with me, two dogs, a cat who thinks she's a dog unless it's catnip time,

and large amounts of supplies to make soaps, balms, lotions, incense,

and anything else my slightly insane little mind cooks up.

So far I really like the list, especially the way the thread on

immigrants, immigration and expectations on both sides is being handled.

Sentiment is polarized; however, it's not nasty, flaming, personally

insulting or generally awful to put up with. I prefer lists with adults

on them, and it's nice to find another good one.

Thanks for letting me join,

I wish you well. My daughter has a pass and has enjoyed going for about 3

years. My husband and I just stay away. The tickets cost close to $50 a piece

plus parking. It is just a little too rich for my blood plus we don't enjoy the

rides too much.

Hello Listmates:

After many years of being sick, I pretty much gave up on traditional medicine.

As most of what they offered me was antidepressants, steroids, and antibiotics.

Not to say these are useful in certain circumstances, its just wasn't helping me

and actually made matters worse. My thyroid had taken a vacation, and

my joints were aching and swelling, I felt sickly, had a long tour of Mono, & female issues

also started acting up. So its was a puzzel to figure out which gland or

region of my body was to blame for all this distress. I was given a list of several

disorders that I was apparently was supposed to have. I spent the first part of this ordeal,

making lots of DR's appts, and dragging myself to see more specialists, only

to end up feeling about the same, but worse metally thinking I was never

going to get help.

The last year I have used acupuncture and yoga to help me feel better.

Recently still struggling

decided to run some tests on heavy metals, and they came back, extremely high.

So I am looking for the best mode to cleanse my body of these toxins. And it

may also mean I have some viruses that have contributed to my lack of well being.

Life has been extremely stressful for the last decade ( I will spare the details, as they

are too many and boring).

I am working on getting my amalgam fillings removed ( should have done this a long

time ago!) I have had many vaccines, and suspect that has increased my

distress as well. Many years ago, I had a Flu vaccine, and it put me out of

Commission for about 2 months. And thinking back, seems like this is when I

started going down hill.

So I am also looking for new ideas and ways to incorporate ways to de-stress,

and live a healthier life style as long as I walk the planet.

Sorry this is so long.

Allie

sentence that small risks were worth taking??

That night he developed a fever, and afew days later he ended up in an intensive care unit, his brain swelling aspuzzled doctors reviewed his case.He fought for his life for 40 days and, after a stay at a rehabilitationfacility, returned home on New Year's Day. But he can't speak and hasreturned to diapers, and all of his meals must be pureed to the texture ofbaby food. While some doctors suspect the flu shot is to blame, others say it'sprobably just a coincidence.Dr. Kenneth Mack, a pediatric neurologist who consulted on Maurice's case, said an adverse reaction to the flu shot can cause encephalitis, aninflammation of the brain."The body's immune system can get overactive and attack the brain," he said.Maurice's pediatrician recommended he get a flu shot because he has asthmaand lives in a home with his infant sister. He had been vaccinated oncebefore without ill effects. His mother, Michelle Mouille, said she regrets having him vaccinated."He was just a healthy little boy. He was running around - he was so proudbecause he'd just learned to write his first and last name," Mouille said."He was living his life, singing, dancing, wrestling with his brother - it'sso hard to understand."Maurice's case has been reported to the Centers for Disease Control andPrevention's National Vaccine Monitoring System. Dr. John Iskander, anepidemiologist and pediatrician with the agency, said the cause of Maurice'sillness may remain a mystery."It's very difficult to make a determining decision whether the flu vaccinewas to blame," he said.Iskander said the CDC will monitor other reports of reactions to see if apattern emerges. But he reminded parents that the benefits of getting a flu shot outweigh thesmall risk of a vaccine causing serious harm. Each year in the UnitedStates, about 36,000 people die of the flu and 200,000 are hospitalized.

Herbal Remedies - New to the list

Hello Everyone I am new to this list and I just started on trying to go all natural. I started back in may 05 by tossing my diabetes prescriptions and going to herbs and vitamins that I read about in a book by Dr. James Chappell. I am doing much better in controlling my glucose levels with diet and herbs.I really would like to learn more I have been reading books on herbs and different foods and what they do. Is there any kind of classes or schools that will teach you on how to grow your own herbs and know how to use them. I really would like to be able to learn more. I have started by trying to go back and read all the messages ( there is a lot of them). Thanks for any infoAnnette

I had taken a test to see what dosha I am. I am 32 for vata and 13

apiece for pitta and kapha. What am I?

Also, the diet seems totally candida prone according to the Life Of

Balance book by Maya Tiwari. There are a lot of grains and fruits that

I cannot handle. I have multiple chemical sensitivities and some

electrical too. I have been tested for candida but is always negative.

Usually when I eat fruit or grains, my heart rate goes up but that is

the only thing that bothers me.

I was impressed with the test because vata is me to a tee!

Thanks for any advice.

I cannot handle fabric softeners, perfumes, petrochemicals, along with EMF

connected with televisions, computers, etc. I can handle being on this computer

for about 1-2 hours before coming down with a headache. The others mentioned

above can cause migraines, feeling of allergic reactions like closing of throat,

dizziness, etc. I usually avoid all things that cause these symptoms, including

people! It is not worth it if I must suffer for up to 3 days afterwards. I have

had this now for 14 years.

You could call this environmental illness.

EMF sensitivity can be tackled by prevention rather than cure, since

we need to change the lifestyle slightly. EMF effects are discussed in an

earlier message

ayurveda/message/6794

Some measures are suggested here.

Strong alternative electromagnetic fields of about 50 to 60 Hz,

depending on which part of globe we are in, are also harmful to us.

These energy fields exist around high voltage transmission lines,

power tools, electric stoves, heaters, boilers, freezers, television

sets and computer monitors when in use and extend several feet,

sometimes even yards, around each appliance.

This pollution disturbs sleep and therefore detoxification schedule

(Circadian rhythm) of liver, spleen etc causing toxin load. wake up

with a headache, uneasiness or fatigue, traditional signs of pitta

vitiation and the most likely candidates for obesity too. Try to

minimize electromagnetic pollution, especially while sleeping,

when the pineal gland is most susceptible, by sleeping in the dark,

or at least covering eyes to produce the immune-stimulating hormone

melatonin. During day, take a break of few minutes while usiing computers.

Proper grounding of computer and table helps. Monitor screens are helpful to

some extent.

Switch off all power points and unplug all electric leads with 2-pin

plugs in the bedroom before going to sleep, watch that there are no

live electric wires inside the wall near the head and try to sleep

with the head in a northerly or easterly direction. The effect of

negative ions emitted by window air conditioners is already discussed

in posts in Iron rules of health series in this group.

Many blood cancer cases come from slum areas where high voltage power

transmission lines cross above them. In fact a typical hum can be

heard from these power lines due to the corona effect underneath

them. Slum dwellers are neither aware of these health risks nor are

warned about them by the authorities.

To recover from the exposure to EMF effects, sit on a chair, heel

touching the heel, about 3 inches distance between big toes, hands

cupped over knees, knees touching each other, spine erect. MOre

advantage if you are barefoot and the ground is wet. This is ideally

done in a garden or courtyard. close the eyes, and breath slowly.

when brerathing in, start passing mind through spine, from rectum end

to head end. When breathing out, pass the mind in reverse direction.

When one is working in a radiation filled room, he should go to a

shielded room which has thick walls made from lead blocks. Lead

blocks are used everywhere where high energy radiations emitted by

isotopes, various alpha, beta, gamma sources exist. Wet ground is

poor mans decontamination room. Earth and water together are

grounding elements, in electrical sense too!

Joyce, did you ever read Steven Levine's excellent work on

environmental illness? He showed how excess free radicals are at the

root of this ailment.

Levine, Stephen A., and Parris M. Kidd. Antioxidant Adaptation: Its

Role in Free Radical Pathology. Allergy Research Group, 1986.

To see how that fits into Ayurveda, you can pick up this book:

Sharma, Hari. Freedom from Disease: How to Control Free Radicals, a

Major Cause of Aging and Disease. Atrium Publishers Group, 1993.

It's only $0.37 on Amazon.com (US).
