Dear DT,

I have already given a few recommendations in my previous mail to you.

Re: sleeping problem :- Low calorie food intake at night meals can cause hunger

at night and resultantly disturbed sleep pattern. She may try Shrikhand during

night meals, one of the sweet curd recipes instead of poppy seed kheer. Nutmeg

powder may be sprinkled lightly over Shrikhand (Shrikhand is also a great

Vata-Shamak remedy). Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate can also be one of the

ready-made choices (though not a Ayurvedic recipe) as after-meal sweet at night.

One cup of plain hot milk with little nutmeg powder can also work wonders for

those having less sleep.

Re Abhyanga :- Sesame oil can be applied to whole body including the abdomen

(tummy).

Re Headache :- It could be because of low food intake causing mild

hypoglycaemia, disturbed sleep pattern, stress of daily work. Besides you should

get her blood checked to confirm the Haemoglobin and sugar levels. Sometimes low

Haemoglobin leading to Anaemia can cause stress in pregnancy causing headache.

One of the troublesome causes of headache in pregnancy can be increase in

Blood-pressure in pregnant woman from second trimester onwards. You should get

it regularly (once a week) checked from your doctor.

Also, another problem I forgot to mention is she still has trouble

sleeping. She feels hungry in the night and eats a banana or few

dates which are readily available by her bed.

1. Is gasa-gase payasa during ( poppy seeds kheer ) safe during this

time ?

2. Do you recommend sesame oil abhyanga on areas other than tummy ?

3. Any tips on treating pregnancy related headache ?
