Hi,

Thanks very much for the postings to this forum, I read them with a big

interest.

My question is, if anybody could advise how to treat diverticulitis for old

weak woman, who is suffering from other liver and urinary bladder disorders.

Thanks very much,

paule

Certainly she can be helped with herbs.

It would be a good idea to take her to an herbalist.

The main issues are - reducing pain and infection, promoting good digestion,

improving liver function and toning the immune, digestive and circulation.

She can do a gentle cleanse in the spring when it is warm with milk thistle and

dandelion in tincture form - this will help to cleanse the liver and urinary

system. Try to have her eat a diet of mostly soups, stewed fruits, whole

grains, green leafy vegetables lightly steamed, meat should be avoided and if

eaten it should be in the form of stew.

She would also benefit from probiotics or a cup of yogurt daily - astro brand

yogurt has live bacteria culture. This helps to maintain good flora in the

intestines so that food can be digested and eliminated properly. When this is

the case food absorption is possible and she will become stronger.

Herbs like licorice root, calendula, bacopa are all very useful in this

condition and you can find out more if you go to a herbalist near you. These

would help reduce swelling and infection.

If she is very weak then the the above should help her.

If some one can make juice ofr her or buy organic juice to give her a glass of

day that would also be very good. Apple, carrot, beatroot with a bit of ginger

would be nourishing and aid digestion.
