Guest guest
I am seeking advice. About 4 or 5 years ago, during a routine physical exam by my regular physician, a general practicioner, he discovered a lump that surrounded the vas deferens area of my left testicle. I had a sonogram and was sent to a specialist. Apparently these are very common among men. I was totally unaware of it until my doctor discovered it. Because of his examination, my examination, and the exam by the specialist, the lump was squeezed many times, and it left me in quite a bit of discomfort for many weeks. The specialist said he could remove it if I wanted, but when I said yes, he said " no, let's wait. It's quite small and may stay that way; also, there is a possibility it will get much larger. " Well the years have gone by and it simply never hurts. It began hurting recently while I was hiking so I did a self exam and noticed it was still about the same size, but the same area of the right testicle now has a lump too, and that was what was causing discomfort. I've talked to other men who surgically had these lumps removed only to have the come right back. Is there any advice out there on how I might treat the pain when it occurs? Or any advice on how I can prevent these lumps from growing, or any ideas as to how I might make them go away without surgery? Thanks. Guest guest
RH, You have not mentioned what are the findings of your sonogram. You also have not specified your age, your marital as well as family status. The treatment modalities will depend on these conditions. However, noting the chronicity and slow-progreesing nature of your problem, Leech therapy would hold promising results according to my experience. Guest guest
Dear Dr. Muzumdar, The sonogram findings gave a name to these lumps which the doctor told me but I absolutely cannot remember. I was told they are common and harmless, never cancerous, but they can get very large and cause much pain. I am 55 years old, 6'1 " 165 lbs. I am in excellent health, have never had surgery or any serious illnesses. I do hatha yoga 4 to 6 times a week for nearly 2 years now. My marital status is *single* although I have been in a monogamous same-sex relationship for 32 years. I don't know what you mean by my family status. I have no children. My parents are deceased. I have 2 younger sisters, 1 younger brother, and 1 older sister. I greatly appreciate your response and will be happy to answer any questions and would welcome any suggestions or remedies. Guest guest
My husband has these types of lumps - but they are seen from outside, he used a mixture of sunthi - dry ginger powder and home made yogurt and they went away - a yoga pose called garudasana could also help. This needs to be done with some patience and persistance. I think taking herbs that support the blood and male reprodcuctive would be useful to ashwagandha, garlic and ginger to clear the blood and parsley or turmeric to cleanse the urinary system would be of use. ___ I am seeking advice. Guest guest
I feel that Leech Therapy (Jalaukavacharan) is the therapy for you. Supplementary Panchkarma in form of Pinda-sweda will also help to reduce the swelling in subsequent stages. Herbs like Gokshur, Haldi taken internally along with external herbal applications like Dashang Lep can also be of great help. By the way, do you stay in India? Dr. Muzumdar.
