Guest guest
Dear Rottienala, About the concept of srotovaigunya Srotas means channels. Vaigunya means deformity or malfunction. There are innumerable channels in our body. Some are gross channels like the digestive tract, blood vessels, urinary tract and likewise while there are microscopic channels like tubes of secretory ducts, fine capillaries, the bone channels, the channels between the individual tissue walls and so forth. Male body has thirteen main srotas - Pranavaha, Udakavaha, Annavaha, Rasavaha, Raktavaha, Mamsavaha, Medovaha, Asthivaha, Majjavaha, Shukravaha, Mutrvaha, Purishavaha and Swedavaha. Female body has two more srotas besides these thirteen - Aartavavaha and Stanyavaha. Vaigunya is of four types - Atipravrutti ie hyperactivity / hypermotility / excessive flow; Sanga ie blockage / spasm; Granhti ie growth / cyst / accumulation /deposits; Vimarga-gaman ie reverse flow / fistulation. Disease pathology occurs when any one or more vaigunya takes place in any of the fifteen srotas.
