Guest guest
Sometimes scientific research helps ayurveda too! How indians and especially north indians love ghee! While studying much-maligned Atkins Diet in reference to other low- carb options, a new study has found something sweet to Indian tongue. Atkines diet achieved only a modest weight loss over a year of just 4.7kg (10.4lbs). This diet came out on top when it was compared with the Zone, the Ornish and the LEARN low-carb diets. In all, 311 overweight or obese women were randomly put on one of the four diets to discover which was the most effective over 12 months. Women on the Atkins diet lost on average 4.7kg (10.4lbs), the LEARN diet group lost on average 2.6kg (5.7lbs), the Ornish dieters lost 2.2kg (4.8lbs), and the Zone diet group lost an average of 1.6kg (3.5lbs). The researchers, from Stanford University, also dispelled concerns that the Atkins diet was unhealthy and increased the risk of heart problems. After blood tests on the women, they concluded that a diet that was rich in saturated fats didn't affect blood lipid levels. Did they not know that Coconut oil, Indian cow ghee has saturated fats? You can now stop all oils starting with S.. say no to Sunflower, Safflower and Soya oil and shed your weight with cow ghee! And you can take ghee with Khitchri in all detox diets. Guest guest
This message is a misrepresentation of the research. However, other research does support the fact that ghee can lower bad cholesterol <http://blog.freeradicalfederation.com/archive/2006/08/22/GheeLowersChol\ esterol.aspx> . Coconut oil is beneficial as well. But those conclusions come from other research. It is erroneous to conclude anything about ghee or coconut oil in an Ayurvedic (lacto-vegetarian) diet from the study referenced below. If we want to be scientific about Ayurveda, we have to apply scientific principles correctly.
