Guest guest
Greetings all ! We are quietly enjoying the great wisdom we see passing through this group over time. We both have some training in Prema Ayurveda which looks more at mental and emotion impacts on health. An area we would love to know more about, especially from those who can draw on generations of knowledge is Ayurvedic dental care. Could we please put some questions to the group for possible comment. * Is ithe incidence of dental caries and gum disease something which is more prevalent in our society? * Are there ayurvedic dental care methodologies which are proved more effective than western methods? * Is the deposition of dental plaque a beneficial process adversely affected by oral chemistry or is it just a 'mistake of nature' * What is the primary cause of gum disease ? * Can gum damage and carie damage be reversed using non surgical methods. * Do hot drinks or hot foods affect gum or dental health? We have more questions but wonder if we can start with these. Thanks very much for your consideration Kind regards Mike and Stephie

Myhusband came to Canada when he was30 - he had never been to a dentist and had not even one cavity. After living here for five years he went to the dentist and had over ten cavities! He attributes it to the habit of sucking candies that he obtained here. I have met many people from India who have no cavities and have never been to dentists. * Are there ayurvedic dental care methodologies which are proved more effective than western methods? Daily care is different there. After eating anything they drink water. The teeth are rinsed after every meal. I would say some prevention like washing the mouth with bitter herbs, cleaning tongue and all areas of the mouth, eating meals and then rinsing - not eating between meals as much would all help. * Is the deposition of dental plaque a beneficial process adversely affected by oral chemistry or is it just a 'mistake of nature' * What is the primary cause of gum disease ? Sometimes poor nutrition, sometimes too much heat in the body lack of removal of bacteria.* Can gum damage and carie damage be reversed using non surgical methods. I would say gum damage can be repeared, cavities may be able to be stopped from growing and sensitivity can be reveresed but have not personally had luck with repairing cavities. Sesame oil swishing and eating sesame seed can help to prevent growth of cavities. * Do hot drinks or hot foods affect gum or dental health? Hot foods hurt the teeth only if they are eaten after cold foods. Like we should not eat an icecream and then a coffee. The temperature change is too drastic. We have more questions but wonder if we can start with these. Thanks very much for your consideration Kind regards Mike and Stephie
