Guest guest
Hi, I gave birth to my baby 2 months back and from that time I had problem with my eyes. They used to become red, sometimes with yellow discharge. I visited a opthamologist and she told me I have dry eyes and she prescribed artificial tear drops. Are there any natural methods to cure dry eye? Any excercises to reduce this condition? Thanks Anamika
Guest guest
Hi Anamika; Many have good results with 1- 2 drops castor oil in each eye at night. Feels wonderful, also helps gently pull some toxicity. I do not know about the redness unless you refer to capillaries showing, from high pitta and subdoshas out of balance perhaps excess udana vata. I leave this discussion to experts. The yellow discharge also. Some would use breast milk to wash 2-3 times daily, if you can manage. It is soothing and antiseptic, helps babies with pinkeye. Filtered triphala tea in eyewash, or eyebright or fennel seed tea may be used with the oozing eyes also. The latter two herbs preferable, or rosewater for eyewash with the redness, although overall body systems balancing is important for you, particularly after just having a baby. You did some long distance travel just after the birth, relocating? This adds extra strain in fragile and fatigued physiology after childbirth. Please look at the recommendations for foods for mothers postpartum - with the cold weather and excess vata after birth anyway, as well as breastfeeding, I would continue for some time. Certainly, one of the best exercises for early postpartum is simple, gentle alternate nostril pranayama for not only oxygenation, but getting into better awareness of your own self-referral biological intelligence. This can be done even with Baby nursing sleepily in your arms. Add some pelvic rocking (cat/cow)and ashwini mudra, both of which gently pump the cerebrospinal and endocrine fluids for better circulation. Warmly, Ysha > I gave birth to my baby 2 months back and from that time I had problem with my eyes. They used to become red, sometimes with yellow discharge.
