Guest guest
Hi Onelove I am preparing for my first liver cleanse, having purchased a colema board for the colonic cleansing, and one concern is about using luke warm tap water for the colonic - the instructions state that this is ok but is there any risk of toxicity from impurities in the water? It would be very difficult to boil 5 gallons of water with just one small kettle! I am also slightly confused about the diet to be eaten during the healing process. The guidelines state that fruit juice, apples and lemons should be avoided, but apple and lemon juice are part of the preparation for the liver cleanse. The guidelines also state that sweet fruit should be favoured - surely bananas are sweet when ripe and yet these are in the avoid list? Also cooked onions and black pepper are favoured for pitta, but I think you advise against these on the basis of congestion? I would be very grateful for your advice, as I realise that diet will be critical to the success of the cleansing. Many thanks Steve UK
Guest guest
Hi Steve Nice to hear from you again. I am glad you are moving forward with this healing process. I use bottled water when doing a colema. One gallon (3.78 liters) costs me $1.20. Thats about 0.65 UK pounds. I use about 3 to 5 gallons. I bring the water to body temperature by putting it in four pots on a four burner stove. I do not use tap water because it has chlorine. I do not know the quality of the water where you live, but bottled water is the best option compared to boiling it. According to the anti pitta (heat) ayurvedic food list, sweet apples are in the favor group. Lemon and grapefruit are in the avoid group. Grapefruit juice is used in the liver cleanse which is an exception. Grapefruit should not be part of your regular diet. Although bananas are sweet in taste they are in the avoid group because ayurveda classifies them as heating in the stomach. Cooked onions are in the favor group and raw onions are in the avoid group. Black pepper is in the favor group but has a asterisk which indicates it is to be eaten in moderation. I listed black pepper not becasue of its congesting qualities but becasue of its heating qualities. Remember, once you have gone through the cleansing process and no longer have the symptoms of rosacea, you can then return to a much more liberal diet in accord with your body type. The purpose of the food guidelines are to accelerate the cleansing and healing process. If you feel inclined to eat something outside of the favor list on occasion, then go ahead and enjoy what you want. The food guidelines are guidelines and are not written in stone. Intuition is your best guide.
