Guest guest
I want to suggest that perhaps the critisism of an Atkins diet is a bit harsh. I was a militant vegan for 17 years, developed pretty severe rosacea and depression during that time. I food combined and ate all organic.lots of soy products.fasted and did herbs and homeopathy and acupuncture etc..also had monthly yeast infections. I then switched to what I call an Atkins type diet..lots of vegies, essene or manna bread, fish about once a week..organic white meat chicken and red meat occasionally..all organic..low carb..some fruit..lots of berries and lots of fats..fish oils, coconut oil eyc. no more soy products.my depression is gone..my arthritis is gone..my yeast is perhaps 75% better if I don't eat alot of fruit...(I went off the vegan diet at the suggestion of my vegan MD who told me I was severely harming my son's neurological system with such a low fat diet and he is allergic to soy products..my son has Tourette's syndrome and if he eats a HIGH meat diet..he does best) The major changes of the Pitta favor diet for me are eliminating tomatoes and the occasional dark meat chicken and some spices I used to like alot..like rosemary..other than that...not much. My colon hydrotherapisdt suggests that my liver is probably clean, since I get perhaps 6 to 8 very tiny 'stones' during my cleanses...I am starting my 4th cleanse tomorrow. I will report if this cleanse gets larger results. I won't know what to think if it doesn't. Comments or suggestions welcome. Thanks Violintango

The medical doctors who are critical of the Atkins diet and recommend a vegan diet, I feel are taking a step in the right direction. However, they have yet to recognize the principles of eastern dietetics. Body type and the energetic nature of food in relation to a specific imbalance is very important when constructing diet guidelines for a individual. The one size fits all vegan diet will lead to imbalance over time if body type and specific imbalance are not taken into account. > I then switched to what I call an Atkins type > diet..lots of vegies, essene or manna bread, fish > about once a week..organic > white meat chicken and red meat occasionally..all > organic..low carb..some > fruit..lots of berries and lots of fats..fish oils, > coconut oil eyc. no more soy > products.my depression is gone..my arthritis is > gone..my yeast is perhaps > 75% better if I don't eat alot of fruit...(I went > off the vegan diet at the suggestion > of my vegan MD who told me I was severely harming my > son's neurological > system with such a low fat diet and he is allergic > to soy products..my son has > Tourette's syndrome and if he eats a HIGH meat > diet..he does best) Your experience is not surprising. Meat which is grounding helped to lower your high vata (air) imbalance and reducing fruit and eliminating soy reduced the dampness which impacted your yeast infection. I am sorry to hear of your son's Tourette's syndrome. His eating meat helped to reduce his vata imbalance. He would benefit from the Ayurvedic cleanse which removes excess vata. I would suggest you have him diagnosed by a Ayurvedic doctor for specifics. > The major changes of the Pitta favor diet for me are > eliminating tomatoes and > the occasional dark meat chicken and some spices I > used to like alot..like > rosemary..other than that...not much. I would highly suggest you read Ayurvedic Healing by David Frawley and Live In The Balance by Linda Prout. These two books clearly explain eastern dietetics. Those familiar with eastern dietetics will notice the diet guidelines for this group while cleansing are anti pitta (heat) and anti ama (toxins). And then eating a diet according to body type once rosacea is cured. Plus supplementing with energy herbs and warming herbs if not eating animal meat. I feel your continued cleansing will lead to a breakthrough in removing deep seated congestion and heat. Please keep us posted.
