Guest guest
Dear OneLove and Readers, I am new to this forum, and find it extraordinarily helpful, both in resources/information and in support. Although I am only 33, I've manifested rosacea for about 10 years. I was born into a family where inflammatory conditions are very common, so I have been prone to eczema and seasonal hayfever for my whole life, and always just blamed it on genetics. Now I'm in a phase of life where I want to take some responsibility for my condition, and aim to heal myself. During the past four years, my rosacea has flared out-of-control in the early spring, like clockwork. Indeed, all my allergies have gotten out-of-control (cats, foods, chemicals), and ALL the reactions go straight to my skin. Spring used to be my favorite season; now it represents agony and utter self-consciousness. My face swells up like a balloon, gets beet-red and itches like hell. Usually, this state of extreme inflammation lasts about a month, then fades gradually. But with summer around the corner, there are new flares afoot with hotter conditions. One year, when the pollen count was high, my face stayed flared for 3 months! And I'm an entertainer! Imagine having to go on stage with a beet-red face (most make-up cosmetics horrible irritate my ultra-sensitive skin) four times a week! Having read the information on liver-cleansing, I feel very assured that this system of healing is for me. I've always strongly believed in the principles of Chinese medicine, and have suspected all along that poor digestion/poor elimination was at the root of all my allergies. Since the genetic component is so strong, I need to work harder at achieving homeostasis than most.....probably true of all rosacea sufferers and those with " inflammatory " systems in general. I have been following my own " cleansing diet " for a week now (eliminating all toxic stuff and eating only organic fruits, vegetables and whole gluten-free grains, as well as drinking aloe vera juice and taking small amounts of psyllium and flax seed oil). I am now preparing for a liver flush in 5 more days, feeling very excited (and a bit nervous) about the outcome. My goal is to " de-fuse " my system by detoxifying, and to reduce the reactionary nature of my skin, which has gotten out of control. My question is this: do others with rosacea experience flares in spring? What is the connection between the allergy response and the rosacea? Does it all come down to the liver. An interesting factor in my personal rosacea is that it also covers my neck and upper chest. I know that the liver's toxic heat is cleared to these areas, so it makes sense that the liver is at the root of the ailments. Thanks so much for listening. I would wholeheartedly appreciate input of any kind. Namaste, Jen Bernard

I had a similar experience. According to Chinese medicine, each organ system is associated with a particular season. The liver and gallbladder are associated with spring. The expanding energy of spring activates these organs to release heat. > Having read the information on liver-cleansing, I > feel very assured > that this system of healing is for me. Internal congestion is also a primary cause for allergies. Internal cleansing, diet modification, and walking is the answer. Does it all come down to the liver? Besides the liver and gall bladder, the intestines are important too. If you ever have any further questions, feel free to ask. Please keep us posted of your healing journey. You can do it Jen! Guest guest
Dear OneLove and Others, Thanks for the quick and thorough response. It's so gratifying to be among people who can empathize. Thanks for the insight on organ systems and their correspondence to seasons....makes sense to me. Interestingly, I had my first colonic hydrotherapy session yesterday, in preparation for my initial liver cleanse. It was SO weird......strange sensation of water moving through your gut. Anyway, my skin had been clearing pretty well as a result of a 10-day cleansing diet, but it flared horribly again post-colonic. It's red, itchy and ultra-sensitive. The hydrotherapist said to expect this: the first colonic treatment often triggers the ubiquitous " healing crisis " when all those nasty toxins are released. Your system struggles to get the toxicity out, and, lo and behold, it shows up on the skin. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'll keep you posted on the results of the liver cleanse.
