Guest guest
Hello, I know a little confused about doshas and diet. My primary dosha is Vata, second is Pita. Since I have rosacea, and I am trying to eat a Pita pacifying diet, do I go ahead and follow the Pita diet, even if there are things I'm eating that you're supposed to avoid in the Vata diet. For example, the other day I was trying to figure out if I should eat black beans, because Vata says to avoid and Pita says to include. And also some nuts I had; Vata says it's ok, but Pita says to avoid. So I'm confused about this. What I read is that Vata and Pita foods are at different ends of the spectrum. What pacifyes one, aggravates the other; so I find a lot of foods where one says avoid and the other to include. I hope you're following me; and if so can you let me know what to do. Do I follow Pita, or do I mix it up a little, and if so how ... Thanks, MB
Guest guest
Hi MB Rosacea is a heat (pitta) imbalance. Ayurvedic medicine recommends following a pitta pacifying diet until you no longer have the imbalance (rosacea). So yes you can eat black beans. You might remember the troublesome foods I mentioned before below. During the healing process you will need to focus on eating a Pitta (Fire) reducing diet. A complete Food Guidelines chart is in Ayurvedic Cooking by Dr. Vasant Lad or found free at Ayurveda.com Choose foods from the Favor list and avoid foods from the Avoid list. You will particularly need to avoid the following food items. Animal Meat, Alcohol, Vinegar, White Sugar, Chili Pepper, Cayenne Pepper, Black Pepper, Onions, Garlic, Soy Sauce, Ginger, Radish, Citrus, Tomato, most Spices, Salt, Eggs, Artificial Ingredients, Ashwagandha, Ginseng. You will also need to avoid the following congesting foods: Dairy Products, Oily Fried Foods, Chocolate, Nuts, Seeds, White Flour, Margarine. Also Caffeine, Coffee, Tobacco and Chlorine are to be avoided and are not part of a health promoting diet. Once cured through cleansing and diet, you can then follow the diet matching your body type. If any further questions, feel free to ask. OneLove original message Hello, I know a little confused about doshas and diet. My primary dosha is Vata, second is Pita.
