Guest guest
Atkins Diet and Rosacea? The Atkins Diet is currently one of the most popular in the diet industry. It was popularized by the the late Robert Atkins. People lose weight with this diet due to its diuretic (water elimination) effect. Some people with rosacea experience some reduction in rosacea symptoms with this type of diet due its diuretic effect. Removing water from the body can help in the removal of toxic heat. The Atkins Diet is also one of the most controversial and potentially dangerous diets for long term health. There are those in western medicine who see this diet as very unbalanced due to its high protein low carbohydrate orientation. See doctor links below. Eastern medicine shares the same view. Although these doctors are advocating a diet centered around whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruit, they are still using a one size fits all approach. They have yet to recognize a persons individual constitution according to eastern principles like body type, food energetics, digestion enhancement, and eating according to seasonal differences. Guest guest
Hi One love, Since you posted this in 2003, look what has happened in the following year...products up the ying/yang with low carbs, I have done atkins on and off for 8 yrs, didnt pay attention to the redness of my face but it did wonders for the dermititus. Then again, could this also have added to the intestinal problems I had...not sure but I realize now that at 40 I need to stop eating like I am 20 and put more nutritional value in my life. , OneLove <onelove@o...> wrote: > Atkins Diet and Rosacea? > > > The Atkins Diet is currently one of the most popular in the diet > industry. Guest guest
Hi Mass consciousness and the diet pendulum in relation to the food industry continues to swing from one extreme to another. It is a reflection of the time we live in. From the viewpoint of Chinese medicine, the Atkins diet works in terms of reducing internal " damp " also know as the water element. The modern diet leads to excess damp. I have refered to it in this group as internal congestion. Removing damp reduces weight. Internal congestion with excess heat is the underlying cause of rosacea. Long term, the Atkins diet will lead to unbalance. Avoiding refined carbohydrates is good. However, a balanced diet is centered around whole grains. Linda Prout has written an excellent book titled Live In The Balance which explains diet from the eastern energetic perspective. Guest guest
I tried the Atkins Diet for a few months and it resulted in an enlargement in my thyroid, I believe there is a connection because I did not have it before I increased my meat consumption. Although there is no pain, it is a definite sign to me that something is wrong. Wrote to Moritz who said it was the result of too much meat (and other things). ct > Hi > > Mass consciousness and the diet pendulum in relation > to the food industry continues to swing from one > extreme to another.
