Gall bladder and the Asian theories?

HI - this is my first post. I am very intrigued by this stuff. I own

a couple of CHopra's books, and have lived pretty healthfully most of

my adult life. (I'm 42) Still, my rosacea was horrible up until about

3 months ago. Now it seems virtually cured, with the exception of

some residual pinkness in the cheeks. (very mild. Most don't notice

it.) What I've done, is learn a lot thru the rosacea support site. My

diet is mostly lean chicken, fish, soy, tons of veggies, some fruit

(less than before) and whole grains. I drink bottled water, and

drastically cut down on alcohol and dairy.(I've always loved wine.

This was a toughy.) I stopped running and now walk for exercise.

But...in April I had my gall bladder removed. It wasn't pumping

effectively and contained some small stones. Do you think my faulty

gall bladder could have been pumping toxins into my skin? I'm curious

about your take on this!

Thanks,

Sharon

Welcome Sharon

Congratulations on your near cure. I am sorry to hear your gallbladder

was removed. I wish you would have heard about the liver gallbladder

cleanse procedure sooner. People with gallbladder pain find that when

they remove stones through a series of cleanses, surgery is not

necessary.

To answer your question, the liver produces bile fluid which is then

stored in the gallbladder. When you eat food, the gallbladder then pumps

bile fluid to digest any fat the food may contain. Proper fat is

necessary for life. Through poor diet and lifestyle, bile fluid

coagulates or hardens into stones inside the gallbladder and liver.

When stones block the normal flow of bile fluid, your food is not

completely digested and leads to congestion throughout the body.

Undigested food accumulates, becomes toxic, and leads to health

problems. Congestion with the addition of internal heat from heating

foods and emotional stress primarily clog the liver, gallbladder, and

intestines. Toxic heat overflows from these congested organs into the

blood leading to skin disorder. This view is a combination of

progressive western medicine and traditional eastern medicine.

Those who have had their gallbladder removed, find they still pass

stones with the liver cleanse because stones also congest the liver. I

want to say that although I am not an advocate of alcohol consumption, a

small amount of wine like two ounces consumed with your main meal can

help digest food. The criteria for this would be a person who is not a

pitta (fire) body type, does not have rosacea, and not during hot

weather. Alcohol is very heating according to eastern diet knowledge.

Best regards

Thanks for the reply. The thing is, stones were not detected; rather,

my gallbladder wasn't pumping effectively. (I don't know why - maybe

you have knowledge about this.) They did a Pipida test to determine

this. But I have led a very healthy life. For nearly 20 years I've

been " mostly " vegetarian, I exercise, (have run 3 half marathons)

etc. I would have loved to avoid surgery as well, but the pain I

experienced was excruciating. It was only when they took the gall

bladder out that they found small stones. No diagnostic test revealed

them prior to that. Pitta is definitely my dominant dosha. Pitta-

Vata, as far as I can ascertain. Do you still think I should have a

bit of wine?

thanks again!

Hi Sharon

You are welcome. Currently, western medicine can only detect calcified

stones. Uncalcified stones, which are the most common, are invisible to

xray and ultrasound tests. There are three types of stones that congest

the gallbladder and liver. These are bile stones, cholesterol stones,

and calcified stones.

When any of these types of stones congest the gallbladder, its ability

to pump bile is impaired and pain can result.

Also, stones which congest the bile ducts of the liver, are technically

called " intrahepatic stones " by western medicine. When these stones

congest the liver to the point where the liver literally bulges with

stones, the enlarged liver can be seen in tests and western medicine

calls this a " fatty liver. "

Although your healthy diet and lifestyle for the past twenty years is to

be commended, there are numerous factors which can manifest stones. Most

people have grown up on a typical modern diet. Most people do not eat a

diet according to their body type. How complete you digest your food is

key. Very few people cleanse their body twice a year for maintenance.

Regarding wine, I would definitely wait until you no longer have the

symptoms of rosacea. Then you could try a small glass of wine with your

main meal. Monitor yourself and see how your body responds.

Kind regards
