Guest guest
I don't know about that. I do know it can be used in your lawn to kill insects. My understanding of it is that the powder is very sharp and injures the exoskelelton of the bugs and kills them. On D.E. that is used on pool filter systems with out any added stuff to it. It claims that the dust is cancer causing and harmful to the lungs. It is fossilized planktons (diatoms)I don't think that is something I would ingest since there are a lot of other options to help with this. I also gotta wonder about so many folks who think they have parasites that are causing them harm. Not really that common (harmful ones everyone/thing has parasites to survive). bob --- nkbaker2001 <nkbaker2001 wrote: > Hi all, I had someone tell me about diatomaceous > earth, that with the > correct quality, could be taken internally for > parasites, colon, ect. > Anyone know anything about this? Guest guest
Kathe, just to let you know of our experience with diatomacious earth. Firstly the type used for swimming pool filters is definitly not for human consumption. But there is an organic type that we have used not only for ourselves but also for worming our livestock. And yes, it can be taken internally for the purpose you have mentioned. Diatoms are actually one celled aquatic algae that have hard shells composed mostly of silica. The fossil remains are finley ground almost like a powder. As mentioned they will cut the exoskeleton of various parasites, killing them for expulsion. We have found the product to work very well if you can locate it in your area. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks, KatheFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. Guest guest
Kathe, I use it for my goats and controlling flies in the barn... but you have to be careful about breathing in the fumes and I would not eat it myself.... It does work for the goats - I mix it with their grain at the full moon-- to help control the worms, parasites etc... does help keep the worm count down. You do have to be sure you're getting the right kind - there is one that is poisonous... if you want to know more write me privately. Guest guest
http://www.dirtworks.net/Diatomaceous-Earth.html Diatomaceous Earth One is in it's purest form and it's called Fossil Shell Flour .. It kills fleas, ticks and internal parasites and can be fed to animals of all types as a dewormer and mineralizer in their feed. It's used to treat grain stored in silos too so, you may be eating it yourself in cereals and grain products that you buy everyday and you can use it in your own kitchen to help preserve and keep insects out of your grains and cereals. The second one is D-20 Pet & Animal , Diatomaceous Earth with Pyrethrin (a digestible extract made from Chrysanthemum flowers) and a catalyst (Piperonyl Butoxide 1%. made from the Sassafras plant) added to it, to make it even more effective against external parasites like fleas, ticks, flies, ants, etc.. It is very safe. Pets licking their fur after application will not harm them. It's not for feeding or eating directly like the fossil shell flour. The third kind of is D-20 Fire Ant, Diatomaceous Earth. This type of DE is used to kill Fire Ants specifically and any other type of ground nesting soft bodied bug you may need to eliminate. Perma-Guard Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth is totally organic and safe. It contains less than 1% percent of Crystal & Silicon. Some of the uses for Diatomaceous Earth include; household pets, gardens, flower beds, field crops, grain storage, and livestock feeding. Diatomaceous Earth is Mother Nature's product with no harm to the environment, pets or to people. Diatomaceous Earth is not an earth, it is the fossilized remains of microscopic shells created by one celled plants called DIATOMS. Diatomaceous Earth kills by physical action, not chemical, by puncturing the insect's exoskeleton and absorbing the moisture in their bodies. Diatomaceous Earth is the primary active ingredient in these products to control numerous pests, particularly, ants, fleas and ticks .. You can rub this into your dog or cat's fur it's so safe. Insects cannot become immune to it because, it's a mechanical insect killer, not a chemical. Insects come in contact with this powder and die of dehydration within 48 hours. Safe for use in kitchens, on carpets and in the area where your pet sleeps. Diatomaceous earth has been used in Asia to control insects for 400 years. If you feed the fossil shell flower on a regular basis to your livestock, and use neem oil mixed with our natural pet soap when cleaning your animals, you can cut the fly population in your barn or shed by more than half. Your animals will be very thankful and your time in the barn will be a lot more pleasant. Diatomaceous Earth is made up of the silicate shells of microscopic sea creatures called diatoms. With it's microscopic razor sharp edges, diatomaceous earth when spread in your garden or field physically kills and deters slugs without the use of harmful poisons. It can be dusted or sprayed as a control for most leaf eating insects and is used to deter slugs and snails. Natural DE makes a very effective natural insecticide. The insecticidal quality of DE is due to the razor sharp edges of the diatom remains. When DE comes in contact with the insects, the sharp edges lacerate the bugs' waxy exoskeleton and then the powdery DE absorbs the body fluids causing death from dehydration. Said more simply, DE kills insects by drying then up. " FYI " : Diatomaceous Earth sold for swimming pool filters is dangerous to human health, your pets and Livestock. It has been chemically treated and heated to change it's composition. Radiating UNCONDITIONAL LOVE & Truth To ALL who share our circle, our universe, our love, our trust.
