Strategy Maps for Successful Communications Everywhere you go, you can see the DISC in the behavior of others. If you watch waiters and waitresses, you can see the various behaviors in them. Their job requires that they are friendly and upbeat giving friendly customer service so there will be a lot of high I behavior in that environment.

The *I* servers are fast paced, move and talk quickly. Then you might have the other friendly type servers at a restaurant, but they are moving quite a bit slower in their actions and that would be the high S people. They LOVE to serve people, but they are generally more reserved and slower paced. As you look around the restaurant, the manager might well be a high D person because their job is to direct and manage what has to get done in the business establishment there. They will be making short, direct statements and moving around to be sure every aspect of the restaurant is running smoothly. If the manager is

giving directives AND they are walking around talking with some of the customers, they are more likely to have two high components all at the same time and they are the D AND the I. You might not see the C person in the operation at all because they are in the back office doing all the accounting and making sure the place is bringing in a profit. Your Goal: Observe behavior and use that information for better communications with all the people you need to communicate with. The Result: You and the people you work and live with will be all the better for it. Your assignment: Make a conscious effort to observe behavior in all kinds of environments so you can learn how to optimize your communications with others. Map out a strategy of your communication styles that are needed to communicate with others for success. Be specific in your strategies. They can all be different with different people. Wishing You the Very Best in All Your Communications!
