Govt notification on iodised salt under SC scanner

A Government notification making the use of iodised salt mandatory

across the country has come under the Supreme Court scanner after a

petition challenging the validity of this law was admitted by the

latter on Tuesday.

 

A Bench of Justices BN Agrawal and PP Naolekar admitted a petition

filed by an NGO Academy of Nutrition seeking to lift the ban imposed

on the sale, production and consumption of non-iodised salt in the

country.
