I can't begin to tell you how incensed I am over this latest executive sleaze move in my home state. It is obvious that Texas tax dollars and Texas children remain under the control of government for further benefit of big Pharma. And as Bush has now set a precedent for lawmakers by simply signing into law by executive order anything he feels the people might oppose, Gov. Perry did the same. This latest government-mandated vaccine is questionable at best. It only addresses four strains of the HPV virus that are suspected in causing cervical cancer, and assumes that all sixth grade girls are sexually active! Furthermore, the vast majority of HPV is self-resolving. The danger of the vaccine itself presents, in fact, a more serious risk. At $350 per vaccination series for each female child in Texas, we're not talking chump change either! Follow the money trail and you'll find that Mike Toomey, Perry's former chief of staff, is one of Merck's main lobbyists...and the greed and corruption continues.
