Dear Dr ___, Namaste. I admire Swami Ramdev because he has the guts to speak out. If our doctors had that courage, then today the health disaster we face need not have happened at all. How many doctors are raising their voice against medical malpractices, the dangerous vaccines, inadequately tested drugs coming into the market, the "sanitised" courses of study at the medical colleges, and the push by drug industry paid researchers to prescribe drugs and only drugs? Instead our doctors target those who try and do their job. I have written to the Health Minister to pay me a salary because I am doing what his ministry is supposed to do. His aides get paid fat salaries for doing nothing and here we are, spending money from our meagre savings and working for the public. My statements go out not only to the forums but also to the heads of various medical associations,

eminent doctors in various fields, immunologists, medical scientists and also such bodies as WHO, UNICEF, PATH, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation etc. Had I not been accurate I would not have survived. Had Swami Ramdev's prescription been so bad it would have reflected on the number of people who attend his camps. Right now, in my capacity as a freelance journalist, I am covering his six day camp at Bhubaneswar. I find people coming all the way from Assam, Bihar, UP, and some southern states as well. Many have already attended one or more of his camps and are coming for more. People at the last stage of their lives, sent back from hospitals, are also arriving in hoardes. One of them was so sick he died at the camp. This news is being exploited for what it may be worth in a bid to malign the Swami. Even as I write this piece journalists all around me are frantically sending their reports and video feeds. What a

way to reward a person who is trying his level best to benefit the ailing population of our country !! The queue before the ayurvedic treatment camp that has been set up extends up to 2 Kms and remains the same till 7 PM, the closing hour. Here too people from other far off states can be found. Obviously people are getting benefits and are spreading the message. In the yoga camp people have shed weight by up to 20 kgs doing his exercises before the TV at home even before he set foot here. People with thyroid problems are off medication, people on dialysis are now attending their duties, people on steroid inhalers for their asthma are off drugs, and people have reported normal blood reports being cured of problems related to cholesterol. I myself am an autistic who was once confined to the bed, almost paralysed. Thanks to homeopathy, ayurveda and

pranayama, very few people can now detect that I am nerve damaged and operating at only 30% of my ability. Swami Ramdev is not telling a lie. It is the people who are cured that are narrating their experiences. I am not against modern medicine. As Swami Ramdev says, it is essential for emergencies. I am sad that the best brains of the country and the best of the country's resources are engaged in a largely fruitless exercise. Even now the medical community is against the introduction of holistic methods into their course curriculum. They are afraid to go against the powerful drug and vaccine lobby. But they should remember that it is their duty to protect the health and interests of their patients. What Swami Ramdev is doing today they should have done thirty years ago. Modern medicine, with its present approach cannot cure disease. If you want to know

how a vehicle runs, you should run it and examine the full assembly. You don't break it down to single parts and study the nuts and bolts. What is going on is absurd.
