Why do we bother with dealing in poison at any level... imho all the meds should be recalled simply due to their listed side effects, let alone dirty batches which may be more than we know. And how do they find this out? Heavy metal is no laughing matter... who is putting it in the meds? Big Pharma no doubt. Is this another way to put fear in us so we will allow some sort of metal detector implant????? (factious)

Recall: 11M bottles of store-brand acetaminophen

This just in from the Associated Press: "A major manufacturer of store-brand acetaminophen has recalled 11 million bottles of the pain-relieving pills because of contamination with metal fragments."

The recall involves bottles with 500-milligram caplets. AP says Perrigo (PRGO), which describes itself as the leading manufacturer of store-brand nonprescription drugs, did not identify any of the stores that received the caplets. Wal-Mart Stores Inc., CVS Corp., Walgreen Co. and Costco Wholesale Corp. were listed in government filings as companies it supplies with health care products, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings, the AP reports.

"Our quality control systems noted trace amounts of metal particulate in a very small number of these caplet products," John Hendrickson, general manager of Perrigo Consumer Healthcare, said in a press release. "Although the frequency of occurrence is very low, the probability of health risk is remote, and there have been no reports of injuries or illness related to this incident, we are taking this measure to maintain the highest possible product quality standards."

Update at 11:30 a.m. ET: Customers can tell whether products they bought are being recalled by checking the store list on the FDA Web site, and the batch list.
