Guest guest
INNER SILENCE(Courtesy : Stavavali Devi Dasi) Until we develop inner stillness and a deep sense of inner peace, we willalways be caught up in the turmoil of outer events. Being quiet withinourselves gives us the chance to move deeper and beyond the turbulence ofthe mind. The mind is a wonderful tool which when sharpened and aware canshow us exactly what we need to do at any given moment. Yet the Yogis andgreat spiritual teachers have all been adamant that in our search for God,the truth and enlightenment, we need to move beyond the confines andlimitations of the mind to a space of nothingness in order to gaineverything. It is in the nothingness that our awareness really expands andnew insights start to infiltrate our consciousness. When we reach that place of inner stillness and quieten the ongoingchatterings of the mind, we come to sense a different reality, which isbeyond anything we have previously known. In the beginning, we may onlybriefly glimpse what is there but with regular practice and perseverance, our experiences become more regular and our sense of knowingness increases. There are many different ways to meditate and we may meditate for differentreasons. Visualization is a very useful tool but it is not the same asdelving into the depths of silence so as to reveal the real, true self. Itis like dipping a cloth into dye, time and time again, each time a littlemore colour remains until eventually the colour is permanent. If we beginour practice with a period of silence, for approximately 20-30 minutes, wewill have created a good foundation to work from and then we can move on toincorporating other techniques and visualizations if we want to.As we reach down into the abyss of our psyche, we start to tap into theunconscious, we begin the long and arduous task of cleansing theunconscious. This is very important work, for without it, we cannot reach tohigher levels of consciousness even if we have the occasional transcendentexperience or glimpse of the divine. Our unsorted psychological stuff, ourunfinished business will keep coming up and getting in the way, until welearn how to release it on a daily basis and also to release it from ourbodies as well. It is for this reason that when many people first practicemeditation, they may feel they are not making much progress whereas in factthey are, they are clearing and cleansing, creating a new sacred space forthe divine to come in.In the silence all can be made known, in time everything becomes clear. Westart to understand why certain things happened and to acknowledge what welearnt from those experiences. We also recognize the importance of lettinggo and not holding onto the past, otherwise we lock our energy in the pastand cannot fully live the present. With constant practise, we can go beyond the masks of illusion and drop theveils. We can then discard the burdens we have been carrying and move on butstand steadfast in the brilliance of the divine light. ~ author unknown but appreciated ~ After all, they (the pro-vaccine lobbyists) say to themselves, you can't make an omelette withoutbreaking eggs. But the eggs being broken are small, helpless, and innocent babies, while the omelette is being enjoyed by the pediatricians and vaccine manufacturers. - Harris L.
