To The Editor, Times of India, INDIA. Dt: 24.10.06 Dear Sir, Linking Autism with watching TV is a shameless attempt to drive attention away from the real causes. We have a poisoned generation on our hands. The situation is exacerbated with low nutrient content food thanks to pesticide laced agriculture, unseasonal farming and indulging in processed and fast foods. Autism is a complex disorder involving the guts, central nervous system and the brain. The symptoms are very similar to mercury and lead poisoning. Cleaning up the environment, access to a nutritious organic diet and eliminating medical procedures like the unnecessary use of antibiotics and over vaccinating children would go a long way in curbing the menace. Not only the MMR, the DPT and the Hep B vaccines too have been implicated in the search for the roots of the autism epidemic
