Guest guest
Dear Friends, In reference to the wisdom potrayed in the post, "Native Indian Wisdom" that details how the world around us reacts as per our actions, good or bad, I have the following to offer. In today's world everything is mechanical, without caring for the needs of the environment or our plant and animal world. Therefore we have "modern" pesticide infested farming, and "modern" poultry and diary farming. How are our actions affecting us at the subtle level? Chemicals and pesticides certainly affect the population at the mental and emotional level, besides the physical. My acquaintance with homeopathy has taught me how every substance affects us at physical, mental and emotional levels and thedisturbance in this lower level diverts us from our spiritual goal by affectingour spiritual consciousness which is the Supreme's special gift to man and thesole reason why even Gods covet a human birth. The spiritual consciousness can be affected by food, lifestyle, chemicals andpoisons and by association with the atheists. Even the aura of a disbeliever canaffect the spirutual consciousness, the reason why the adept stay away fromcrowds and civillisation. Ayurveda says even the mode of dressing can affectone, a fact supported by Sri Ramakrishna and other saints who said, "Jaisa beshwaisa vesh", meaning your dress can shape your morals. The loss of spiritual consciousness is what is termed hell, and is worse thandeath.Plants have a consciousness of their own, as scientifically demonstrated by SirJagadish Chandra Bose. He showed how plants react differently to persons with good intentions and persons who wish to harm them. This explains why sincere gardeners usually enjoy mental peace and good health. Vastu also recommends keeping plants in the house and tending carefully to them. This phenomenon can be extended to animals also. In Orissa where in many households cows are tended to with great reverence it has been observed that the cows take upon calamities or even death upon themselves thus saving the household. In a book on Sri Lahiri Mahashaya I faintly remember reading how a cow absorbed the illness of a member of the household. To extend this concept we can perceive that pesticides and modern organised farming must be painful for the plant world. It can be imagined, at least by the holistic practitioners, that the plant world is emanating negative energy as a result of this.I also feel bad when I read about mass culling of poultry as such mass murders, and in a gruesome form like live burials, burning, gassing, do not bear well for the society. We are committing a great crime whose responsibility we cannot shirk from.In our scriptures we know how, at the end of the last Kali Yuga, nature taking the form of a calf went to Lord Vishnu and complained about the atrocities heaped upon it by humankind. Has a similar cry already gone to the Lord once again? I will not be surprised if it has. When the Lord responds to the call, all may not be well with us. Regards, Jagannath.
