My recomendation is the prayer should be backed with an act of service to a human in need, which is equivalent to service to God? I will give my three experiences to Jaggannath Chatterjee, so that he can construct my experiences in a manner that could help our group as well as many of our people. Guest guest
Dear Dr Alam, Today's population is hard pressed for time. Everyone is running for the sake of money. People do not get time to pray even one time a day and are forced to do it once a week or month, such is the situation. The Hindu scriptures advise prayers in the early morning, after a bath, in the afternoon, evening, and again before going to bed. For the spiritual seekers, the whole night is advised for prayers as nature is quiet and receptive at that time. Sleeping in the night is prohibited for the earnest seeker as it robs him of valuable time. Sri Ramakrishna said, " Three types of people stay awake at night, rogi, bhogi and yogi " , i.e. a person afflicted from disease, the pleasure seeker and the spiritual aspirant. For those following the path of tantra, meditating in the middle of the night is a must. Today we are so burdened by the world that we have entirely forgotten the value and need for prayer. Swami Vivekananda was very happy that our Muslim brothers stick to their prayer routines very strictly. He praised their actions as they left whatever at hand at turned to God at appropriate moments. He wanted all people to do likewise. People say religion divides but I never feel so. Having read a little about a variety of religions I find the common thread to be intense love and yearning for God, purity in thought and actions, desire to serve other beings, and spreading God's wisdom. Dear Mr, Jaggannath Jetterjee: You are right people are running to make money. A prayer can only take 30 seconds, while walking or riding a bis or train. I do it quite often during the day specially when I need an answer. It does work. Arvind Amin ask34amin
Guest guest
Dear Jagannath jee, The scriptures in Sanskrit have the monotheistic content as messengers were sent all over the world..I am vey pleased with your response..We need to multiply adoption of prayer 5 times a day..I had a conversation with Mahamandeleshwar Swami Akhilesh jee who cited the reference for prayer 5 times a day in a text called shiv sankalp taru.. I will appreciate if all the distinguished members have a look at the conceptual organisation at http://muhammad_mukhtar_alam.tigblog.org I have argued for adoption of monotheism for personal integrity, social unity and global unity.. With much appreciation Dr.Muhammad Mukhtar Alam jagchat01 <jagchat01 wrote: Dear Dr Alam,Today's population is hard pressed for time. Everyone is running for the sake of money. Guest guest
There are commands for prayer and zakat repeated many time for men and women who submit to the commands of God/Allah/Ishwar/...The word Muslim is an Arabic word for men and Muslimat for women who submit to the commands communicated through the messengers..Indeed service to mankind needs to be rendered along with adoption of prayer.. There are empirical eveidence of the impact of prayer on stress..Albert Pepitone has established the same through his work..I have argued for globalisation of the cuture of prayer 5 times a day.along with other commands..Piety indeed is the best value that we need to establish for all..
