THE 9-STEPS OF SELF-TRANSFORMATION A Practical Guide for Waking Up, Discovering Your True Self & True Purpose & Connecting with the Divine Spirit of a Living Universe By Jack Allis I am a teacher of personal growth and awareness. This consists of two basic things. The first is teaching people how to overcome the

obstacles or problems that they create in their lives. People usually seek my help because they are unhappy, which, specifically, means they are experiencing such things as depression, anxiety, anger, or a general malaise or sense of unfulfillment. And second, once these problems are overcome, it is necessary to teach them how to change, or to reinvent themselves. When the sick part of them is gone, people invariably experience a gap in their life, a hole that was always previously filled with their problems. Now it’s empty, and this is very scary for most because what people seem to fear more than anything is the unknown. They would rather cling to their old, familiar self,

like an addiction, than transform themselves into something totally different. Once they open themselves up to it, reinventing themselves becomes the most enjoyable and exciting part of this process. And for most, the path of personal growth and

awareness becomes an ongoing lifestyle, and the primary purpose of their lives, from which everything else sprouts. This article is a manual, which goes through the 9 essential steps of self-transformation, and developing your unlimited potential. However, first it is necessary to go over the philosophical foundation of this work, without which it cannot possibly succeed. If you reject this foundation, then this obviously is not for you. Fundamental to this are the concepts of energy and spirit. It is built upon a view of the

world, confirmed by quantum science, that everything in the universe, at its core, including us, is energy. This energy is in a state of lightening fast movement or vibration, and every aspect of this energy field is connected to every other aspect.

This pulsating and interconnected field of energy is also governed by an unseen intelligence or spirit. We have the power to manifest health, happiness and magic in our lives as a function of learning how to connect with this energy field and with the divine spirit that governs it. We accomplish this with our total beings – mind, body and spirit. And specifically, we do it by experiencing life with feelings of peacefulness, joy, love and trust. These feelings get our energy vibrating at a frequency that resonates with the energy field and the divine spirit. This is the ultimate source of our power. That’s it in a nutshell. Now here’s how to do it. The 9-Steps of Self-Transformation #1 – Making Observations Making observations means beginning to pay attention to ourselves, and to life. Most people are sleepwalking through life, going through the motions, without really living. Making observations is a wake-up call to begin looking at those things that are the most important – either positive or negative. Paying attention to ourselves, and to life, is a launching pad for personal growth, and the first step in learning how to live each moment to its fullest. An important aspect of this is making observations about those things we want to change about ourselves.

Rather than trying to ignore them, or hoping they’ll vanish, it’s necessary to bring them out into the light of day, where we can see them. Only when we are aware of something, do we have the power to change it. When it’s hidden beneath our awareness, we lose our control over it. If we can’t see it, we can’t change it. #2 – Meditation All the different types of meditation boil down to the same

basic thing. Meditation is relaxing the body, and quieting the rational mind. For beginners, I recommend taking 15-minutes, twice a day, where you remove your self from your normal routines, and sit comfortably, by your self. Your sole focus is your breathing, relaxing the muscles of your body, and emptying your mind of all thoughts. It’s just you - being. And there’s no such thing as success or failure. What’s important is doing it, and practicing it. Then, if you choose, you can learn about different meditation techniques, and try them. #3 – Programming Programming means deprogramming the negative, unhealthy thoughts from our mind, and reprogramming it with positive, healthy ones. In our crazy world, we are conditioned to see the world and ourselves very negatively, such as: life sucks, and we are helpless to do anything about it. Programming basically boils down to learning how to see ourselves, and the world, differently. A great place to start is to embark upon the path of personal growth and awareness, and conscientiously follow these 9-Steps. You will soon learn that life is, in fact, a spectacular adventure, and you are the master of your destiny. #4 – Body Awareness - Food The next two steps, food and movement, deal with the

maintenance of our physical body. The physical body is an integral part of our totality, together with the mind and the spirit. It is an essential medium through which we experience life in this world, and through which we connect with the energy field and the divine spirit. As such, it is imperative that we keep it in peak operating condition. With food, there is a popular

misconception today that nutrition is the sole means of achieving optimal health and happiness. Food is critically important, but it is only one variable among many. Proper nutrition can be reduced to a few simple principles, and it’s been the same for

eons. Let’s begin with: everything in moderation, and the importance of a balanced diet. Cover all the major food groups. Do your best to eat natural, non-processed food, without chemical preservatives or pesticides. Eat slowly, and chew your food thoroughly. Good, clean water is a must. And pay attention to your body! Eat when you’re hungry. Stop when you’re full. And enjoy it! #5 – Body Awareness – Movement (Exercise) Moderate, non-stressful, non-extreme exercise is optimal for fine-tuning our body. Stretching and relaxing all of the muscles in our body everyday is essential, particularly

as a means of getting our energy flowing. I am a big fan of yoga and martial arts, like Tai Chi, because they focus on our totality – body, mind and spirit. Getting your heart rate up moderately every day for at least 20-minutes is also a must. This can be accomplished with a brisk walk or fast dancing. Again, body awareness, which means paying attention to our body, should be a regular part of all our physical actions. When you are doing

errands or chores, or simply walking, do it briskly, with the proper attitude and body mechanics, swinging your arms, bending your knees, and with an erect posture. #6 – Spending Time & Connecting With Nature All of the answers to every metaphysical question can be found in nature, which surrounds us always, and of which we are an integral part. It’s right outside the window, even if you live in a city. The divine spirit can always be seen at work,

in the seasons, in how the majestic oak tree grows from the tiny acorn, in the miracle of how our DNA instructs the cells of our body what to build. Connecting with nature is one of the best ways to connect with the divine spirit.

#7 – Inspirational Music & Literature Spend time every day listening to inspirational music, or reading inspirational literature, or both. Connecting with the divine spirit means getting our energy vibrating at the proper frequency. Music is a great way of retuning our vibration, and reading a great way of reprogramming our thoughts. If you don’t have any of this type of music or literature, set out to discover it. There are few better uses of your time. Go to the New Age or classical section of a music store, and start sampling the CD’s. Same with books. A good general rule when sampling: if it feels

right, it is right. #8 – Do Something Different Make a point to do something different, every day. Life is a spectacular adventure, but not if we’re stuck in the mud of mundane habits, routine, and tedium. The path of personal growth and awareness is all about discovering your true self and your true purpose in life. But you won’t find them if you don’t look. In Step #1 we talked about the vacuum we face when we begin to strip away our old self. The remedy for this is simple: explore, and do it like a child who is discovering the world for the first time. If what you find isn’t right for you, try something else. You will soon learn that the joy comes from the experience of the exploration, and living each moment to its absolute fullest. #9 – Service Service means doing your part to create the embodiment of the divine spirit here on Earth. Service is also a natural outgrowth of the path of awareness. Once you wake up, you will

want to share what you’ve learned, and help others wake up. Once you’ve discovered your true self and your true purpose, you will discover that you are here in this world to serve the divine spirit, and to create truth, wisdom and beauty. This is our most sublime virtue: we are creators. And this can take a multitude of forms. The form you choose is up to you. Once enough of us have developed the higher powers of our consciousness and spirit, we will create a paradise on Earth. JACK ALLIS Personal Growth & Awareness Teacher
