They arearousing the vital force, which when free of itsshackles is performing miracles like dissolvingtumours, clearing heart blockages, reducing bloodsugar, making hair grow on bald plates and so on. Howthis happens is beyond science but we cannot deny thatit happens, simply because we are SEEING it happen atthe yoga camps conducted all over India and the worldtoday.Let us go down to more mundane levels so that we canidentify with the situation. Robert Svoboda, renownedayurved, narrates an incident where his friend wassuddenly taken ill when exposed to chilly air aftersweating from exertion. Svoboda diagnosed it as a Vatadisorder and advised his friend to go for a steam bathand also take pure clarified butter to engage hisstomach. Soon his friend developed an uneasy abdomenfull of gas and started vomiting. Svoboda was pleasedthat the Vata toxins had been attracted to the stomachand were now being expelled. Sure enough his friendrecovered from the illness and got back his goodhumour. Svoboda thus used the vital force to get ridof the disease. Had the disorder not been cured thushis friend would have developed fever, a cold and evenpneumonia with chest involvement.Ayurveda deals in a very systematic manner with thevarious forces working in the body, forces thatperform the various automatic bodily functions soessential for our existence. It also describes thevarious metabolic centres in the body which carry outthe processing of the various inputs, the mostimportant being the "digestive fire". It also dealswith the energy meridians which form an intricatenetwork within the body and also outside it, formingthe basis of the human aura as seen through Kirlianphotography. It describes in detail the energyvortices called chakras which rule over the variousparts and processes of the mind and body. The nervoussystem described in ayurvedic texts is highlyintricate and shows fine nerves which are yet to bediscovered. The ayurvedic texts also speak of germs asparasites which live off the body and are harmful onlywhen the immune system is highly compromised.Ayurveda recognises individual idiosyncracies anddivides people on the basis of their predominant bodyhumour. Disease occurs when these humours aredisturbed. Treatment consists of restoring balance andeliminating the toxins which have resulted as a resultof the imbalance. By acting along with the flow of thevarious forces within the body ayurveda ensures a verysmooth restoration of health without side effects asthe vital force as well as the immune system are neverinterfered with or compromised.Ayurveda places more importance on prevention ratherthan cure. All the possible humour imbalances arenoted and a list of do's and dont's are prescribed tobe followed as daily and seasonal routines. Care isalso taken that persons adjust their diet with theirindividual body type without compromising on therequired nutrition. Each person is sought to beeducated on the basics of prevention and cure basedupon simple herbs, spices, grains, oils and vegetablescommonly found and routinely consumed.Spiritual training to every person is consideredessential as physical and mental purity leading tofaith in the eternal is the goal of ayurveda. Weshould not forget that ayurveda is the result ofresearch by the Saints of India who sought to so finetune the body, mind and emotions that the body becamea vehicle to cross the ocean of humdrum existence.Homeopaths describe the disease force to be theresult of a disturbed mind. The mind of man wasinitially an epitome of simplicity. It was in tunewith nature and man could converse with the elements.There was no trace of selfishness as the spirit bodywas so highly developed that the needs of the physicalbody were mere mechanical and of really noconsequence. Constant joy was the result and life wasa blessing.In the Uddhava Gita we listen to Sri Krishna whoadvises his friend Uddhava to prepare for the ultimaterelease; Moksha. When Uddhava asked why, the Lordinformed him that with the coming of the Kali Yuga,man would forget God and run after the world. Lifewould become full of woes and the joy of living woulddisappear. Uddhava was aghast, was such a thing everpossible? Could man really become weary of life? Couldman ever forget God?We know that Sri Krishna's prophecies have cometrue. Men fell from spiritual grace and adopted moneyand material prosperity as the goal. As a result aroseselfishness, jealousy and the ambition to earn morethan required. This created a mental disturbance justas the waters of a calm lake is disturbed when a stoneis thrown into it. The ripples spread to the bodythrough the glandular system that acts as the conduitbetween the spiritual body and the physical. Strongtoxins were produced which only the skin could handle,and were thrown out causing an itch upon the skin.When these itches were interfered with and suppressed,the disease dynamics came into being getting an upperhand over the vital force. Whereas the negativetendencies of the mind were earlier voluntary, nowthey became a compulsion and the mind, the source ofextreme joy earlier, became a curse on man. Hahnemanntermed this disease state Psora.This disturbed mind led man to even greater sinswhich resulted in veneral diseases. When the externalmanifestations of these diseases were suppressed withstrong medicines and ointments the disease force wasfurther strengthened giving it the strength to godeeper and affect the internal organs. The intellecttoo was deeply affected and the passionate criminalmind took shape. All the base desires of man receiveda fillip and man was bestowed with the power to becomeworse than an animal. The conscience lost its gripupon this transformed creature. Depending upon whatwas suppressed, gonorrhoea or syphillis, Hahnemantermed the disease states Sycosis and Syphillis.Syphillis totally destroys the intellect whereasSycosis renders man incapable of discrimination andsane judgement, thus forming the basis of a sadisticpersonality.There is a fourth stage, Tuberculosis, thatdevelopes as the Sycotic person, enamoured by the lifeof the senses, dissipated his vital fluids sapping thebody of vital nutrients. There are also unreciprocatedemotions, deep dissatisfaction with life and the curseof poverty that has the same effect on the body. Thusthe body "wastes away". Tuberculosis is the combinedeffect of Psora and Sycosis, with maybe a traceelement of Syphillis. We are seeing the three diseasestates reigning supreme and combining with Vaccinosisto become AIDS.With the desire to play God, came the vile practiceof vaccinations. The interference with the vital forceand the injecting of animal serum directly into theblood stream gives rise to this disease state which isvery similiar to Sycosis, suppressed gonorrhoea. Thisis Vaccionosis. Now it is widely known that thisdisease force also owes its vicious nature to theheavy metals, toxins and carcinogens that form vaccineingredients.Today there is the need to have another newnomenclature for a disease state called Iatrogenesis.This is the result of impudent and ignorantinterference with the vital force using misguidedmedicine and medical procedures. This has become themost dreaded disease force taking the maximum numberof lives and there is no known cure except for theattempt to detoxify the body using the Panchakarmatherapy of ayurveda, or cleansing by naturopathy orusing safe chelation procedures.Well selected homeopathic remedies can also causethe body to throw out the toxins before the originaldisease state can reappear in its pristine formrendering it amenable to cure. Homeopaths are now busypreparing remedies out of toxic allopathic drugs sothat they can counteract the near permanent toxiceffects of these vile substances. However if bysurgery an organ is removed or modified without realneed for the same then heaven help that person as hehas no chance of full and complete recovery.How is allopathy affecting this disease force? Wemust know that the force of disease is from outward towithin, going deep into the body, from a lessimportant organ to a more important one. With itssuppressive form of treatment allopathy is "fastforwarding" this process taking the mayhem to neverbefore reachable heights. In theabove example the kidney failure patient would see hiskidney problem receding and his heart problemreturning, then the liver getting affected as theheart gets better, nervous system falling ill as theliver improves, the acidity then taking its place andfinally the original itch reappearing on the surfaceof the skin, and aggravating as the entire toxic loadis thrown out into the surface and disappearing neverto return again. The mind too becomes progressivelymore cheerful with the ultimate return of the originalsimple and pure nature.This is the holistic method of healing which iscapable of effecting a complete cure in all aspectswithout having to take recourse to a painful lifetimeroutine of taking drugs and visiting doctors.However the illnesses of Saints and Sadhus do notfall into this category. They suffer because ofintense sadhana and compassion towards other humanbeings which attracts the suffering of others. Theytoo can be relieved by ayurveda which has got aseparate section for such illnesses called YogajaVyadhi, illness resulting from intense spiritualpractices. Both Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Chaitanya aswell as various other Saints have benefitted by thisbranch of ayurveda. Homeopathy too can help with wellselected remedies though the above disease dynamicsdoes not apply. These Saints also get spiritual helpin the form of messages from God which helps them finda cure. Around two decades ago when I first read The Mothers views on health I found it strange that she viewed disease too as the work of spirits. I am yet to understand the full implications but I suppose each acute disease may have a spirit of its own. That is in fact what The Mother says. This was known in the Vedic times also where there were both Devatas and Apadevatas. The Apadevatas caused disease and accidents. Therefore various deities were identified for various ailments and pujas were performed. This may explain the "morbid disease matter" that Hahnemann refers to when explaining disease. This disease matter is not the germs or viruses but beyond them, like a mischievous energy. For accidents too The Holy Mother blames the spirits. Therefore she asked her devotees not to loiter in the accident site. That spirits can cause accidents is a belief that persists. We also see many places which are very accident prone for reasons unknown. I think we have to rename spirits and goblins as electrons or photons so that we do not sound superstitous !! It is strange is it not that science discovers energy and it is accepted, our ancestors knew about spirits and are maligned. Regards,Jagannath.
