Finally, we have Neem (scientific name Azadirachta indica) - nature’s panacea for all ills. It is a powerful blood purifier and detoxifier, an antiseptic, antipyretic, anthelmintic and has curative uses in jaundice, dysmenorrhoea, psoriasis, urticaria, pruritus and several skin disorders. However, this ‘free tree’ given by God to save man has been usurped by the WTO and IPR regimes in the form of patents, patenting in the process greed and monopoly when thousands are dying due to penury.
