Guest guest
http://indianeconomics.blogspot.com/2005/05/what-is-meditation.html What is meditation? All of us get connected to the world by three ways:a) experience (sensory)- by eating food, listening to others' talk, quarrellingb) memory (intellectual) - contemplation, reading, imaginationc) neither memory nor experience - this is SELF Meditation is talking to the SELF and witnessing all EXPERIENCES and MEMORY.When in solitude, a person is less disturbed by experiences and he can independently think like walking on a large tract of memory land. This thinking in solitude is like walking in a large area where he can reach at different places in past or futures of himself or others, and he can finds solution or invent new things which he cannot otherwise find in a state of engagement. Scientists and engineers and saints are in this way contemplating their memory and find out new ways of life in memory, and that is later also realized in reality. This (objective thinking), in Patanjali yoga is called SABEEJ MEDITATION. 'SABEEJ means, with seed or object or thoughts around objects. NIRBEEJ means, seedless or unfocused thinking. Meditation by contemplation of memory can give rise to various options and these become technological or scientific inventions or 'BIBHUTI' (dust of knowledge). Europeans are 'thinkers with objects' and this 'objective thinking' made them self realization of technology. 'Meditation' is outside 'objective thinking ', knows the unknown and remains unattached and attached with everything in equal intensity. Meditation thus, aims at 'pure Knowledge' without logic/ objectives.Sri Krishna says 'think', 'be with yourself' and take others seriously. Think and be with yourself are about solitude when one is in state of awakening but is not engaged. 'Taking others' seriously means, neither take anyone inside of your mind and nor create situations that others remember you. This act of non- violation is called peace with yourself. Non violence is nothing except this. If you know somebody, you will not remember him/her often, and will keep very minimum information. But if you are/can be cheated by somebody or afraid of something, you will need to have most of information or will pay to someone to keep that information. Memory is by default/fear. People are remembered mostly for wrong/odd reasons. In USA or New India, people are new to wealth and have not tasted elemental experiences and therefore fight more and for everything. In such litigious/untrustful societies, lawyers and accountants are rich people to keep accounts/legal information of their clients. True friends become a part of him/her and are not remembered often; but evil persons or events are always on top of memory. Undesirable object/ hurdle in a plane of memory that cannot be removed is called violence; and death is a dangerous spot in memory where a particular life cannot go further. A decision to leave the body is called death. If a person is careful of this memory and goes in a direction of SELF realization, he/she cannot find an obstacle where a death becomes a necessity. Many farmers in India make suicides when unable repay a small debt and because they cannot compromise on their deeper values. This is because they moved in an area of economics they did know and found no other escape, and had chosen to end their lives. To refrain from such motivation is non-violence. Non violence or non violation is a term for 'action that are non reaction'. The belief or actions which are SELF realized way is a path of non violence. Non-violent peace allows a free mind in meditation. To stop causes of worries from external sources, and to cleanse your own actions; are nothing but acts of non violence. At this contemplation, you can realize how teacher lives inside you and talks to you and only helps you, and takes you to different places and allows you to meet different people and places. He only wakes up in the morning, he gives you intuition when you lost something or forgot; when you have no choices, and he is a decision maker sitting inside. This inside thinker is SELF. SELF is only taking different chairs i.e., for action/experience, in intellectual/ thinking-memory and pure SELF. Everyone's state of ego is also SELF under seize of the memory. This entrapment of memory give you a different identity and me a different identity.State of ego or 'limited self' is all about what one knows about his/her current state of memory. Every one of us feels like owner of a large part of land of memory that becomes his/her 'ego'. By increasing the boundary of his/her memory and efforts to remove obstacles of fear /ignorance, his/her intellectual freedom will keep on increasing. Modification of memory changes the personality, character and behavior of a person. Listening, reading, imagination, contemplation are self education to increase his/her area of awareness in memory land. A person can become violent or sinful when his/her intellect is gone at a wrong path. Also, a person becomes a scientist by thinking and meditating upon physics. This act of thinking/meditation in area of memory of physics is like exhumation of the SELF into or SELF getting united with 'physics'. Meditation is therefore a sacrifice of the SELF. Sacrifice is loosing of earlier identity, and transformation of SELF. Sacrificial act (called meditation) is thus a process that transforms persons into a scientist (Albert Einstein) or inventor (Bill Gates), saint (Gandhi or Mother Teresa). In Sanskrit, this is called 'Yazya' or SELF immolation into fire of knowledge. 'Yazya' is establishing connection or method of 'yoga'. 'Yagza' is a demonstration how wood is consummated by fire; and in the process, everything gets transformed into particles of light. Humans studying 'physics' are a similar demonstration. Worthy humans accepted by 'sacrificial physics' become scientists and thinkers in an irreversible process of intellectual transformation. This loss of SELF is called 'Sva HA' or end of SELF or SELF united by 'greater SELF' with its meditation deity (in this example 'physics'). By this meditative process, the mind is expanded beyond its limits of memory, and this stretching of mind is called 'mantra'. Developing laws of physics and formulae are examples of 'mantra' and individuals relying on it seek realization of the 'power of physics'. Man (mind) and Tra (stretching). The SELF is thus expanded and nothing remains unknown. Bhagwat Gita is abstract knowledge and those qualified to understanding Bhagwat Gita are in irreversible process of their transformation. The process of unification of intellect (logic/memory)) with knowledge (truth) is 'yoga' or 'bhakti'.Effect of thinking or meditation is an inner realization or taking one to oneself. SELF is only one but is non physical. This is also called ATMA ('atm' is myself) or KHUDA('khud' means myself). Your SELF will teach you one things and my SELF will teach me another thing. But the SELF is not different. SELF is like a person with eyes, and each one of us are blind persons. The same SELF will teach different things according to ones ability of contemplation and being at peace. If there is no peace of mind, SELF will be silent. Because the property of physical or material, our properties are changed and this impurity is cause of differentiation. You can understand SELF according to your environment. It is therefore suggested to see how you can engage in action that are non reaction. Gandhi, Krishna, Kant, Jesus are specimen of same SELF as you and me. With same material, they are made and so are we. If we can understand this, it connects. This connection by realization is called 'Bhakti'. If you think about a successful businessman, you will start following his ideals and become a businessman. Similarly, Bhakti of Sri Krishna makes the person own the mind of Sri Krishna in that given life. Gandhi was Sri Krishna because he has meditated upon him and he struggled a war with British instead of Mahabharata. Gandhi also fought the war by non violence and so was Krishna.Mahabharata is erroneously compared sometimes with wars of these days. The wars for gaining land of other nations or increase land for own clan or races is not Mahabharata. Mahabharata was a non violent war although it has blood rivers. Gandhi had similar experiences when he disregarded British laws that gave right of one individual to control another. Mahabharata was test of strengths between belief in 'dharma' (whole) vrs 'adharma' (divisive). In other words, every war is like scientific experiment to see the truth. A scientist loosing his/her life during an experiment is a not very big thing. Everyone is a scientist in an act of exploring life. Millions of scientists in this way die every day because of their ignorance, and new scientists keep on getting reborn. Birth and death are nothing about non-violence. This process of 'life' or 'wars' is about testing of SELF, and if such a testing is done with 100% involvement, it cannot be a violation of others, and thus is called non violence. In Mahabharata, Sri Krishna was demonstrating 'natural' and wholistic values and Kaurav demonstrated 'divisive' and 'economic' strategies. Sri Ram or Krishna always represented nature viz., rivers, mountain, jungles, animals and, their opposites represented organizations, control structures and strategy. posted by Krishna Gopal Misra @ 10:24 AM 0 Comments: "Our ideal is not the spirituality that withdraws from life but the conquest of life by the power of the spirit." - Aurobindo.
