Guest guest
To The Editor, Times of India, Bhubaneswar. Dear Sir, The vaccine against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), thought to cause cervical cancer in women, is already mired in controversy in the USA. First of all, the HPV's role in causing the cancer is dubious as many women harbour the virus without developing cancer as they seem to have natural immunity against the same. The cause of cervical cancer is commonly attributed not to the virus but on obesity, dietary anomalies, use of the oral contraceptive pill, smoking, sex with multiple partners and also toxins in the environment and in the form of medication. Moreover the vaccine has the usual danger of heavy metal content and toxic ingredients and additives. Therefore the hype around the vaccine is with commercial intent rather than a sincere effort to address the issue. Your paper should not encourage such malafide news items. Yours faithfully, Jagannath Chatterjee "Our ideal is not the spirituality that withdraws from life but the conquest of life by the power of the spirit." - Aurobindo.
