Guest guest
This is pretty hard to stomach. - newsletter corehealing Sunday, May 21, 2006 2:08 PM David Icke Newsletter - May 21st 2006 DAVID ICKE NEWSLETTER, MAY 21st 2006 YOU'RE AN EXTREMIST .... NO, YOU'RE AN EXTREMIST .... Er, you're both right ... Hello all ... In the late 1980s I was invited to speak at a rally against animal experiments. There was a march through London, followed by a gathering at the Central Hall in Westminster. I was a national spokesman for the British Green Party at the time and I spoke against the grotesque cruelty to animals in laboratory experiments, known as vivisection. Nothing controversial there to an audience who had spent the last few hours marching through London in the same cause. But then I said that it was blatantly contradictory - and seriously counter-productive - for those who campaign against violence to animals to use violence against people. The vast majority agreed with that, but not all. Immediately the heckling started from a small group on the top tier and when I met them afterwards I was staring into the face of hysteria. They would 'hang me', I was told, and how could I claim to care about animals and then condemn violence by those dubbed 'animal extremists'? I felt for them because, like all extremes, they could not see that they were a mirror of the people they considered to be the extremists. I recalled the experience this week when three people were jailed in Britain for 12 years, and another for four, after they were convicted of a 'campaign of terror' against a family business breeding guinea pigs for experimentation. The campaign included protests outside the family farm and threats to family members, friends and employees. Most notoriously, they stole the body of Gladys Hammond, a relative of the family, from her grave in October, 2004 and this led the family to close the farm. Her remains were found recently in a wood. Of course, the grave robbery shocked the country and did enormous harm to the legitimate demands from the overwhelming majority of peaceful animal rights campaigners for an end to the reign of systematic and legalised suffering and torture. But extremism in any field doesn't see the bigger picture in which the consequences of its actions must be considered. It sees only red mist and hatred or, even in a milder form, believes that only its view is legitimate. The question should surely not be about revenge, but how best to bring about the desired ends. Revenge is not a dish best served cold, as the saying goes. Revenge is best not served at all, for it darkens the soul of all who pursue it. Mahatma Gandhi said ... 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated ... I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man.' Quite right. But he also said ... 'I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.' I can understand the anger and frustration of those four people and others as they see the violence perpetrated on helpless animals, but it is so easy to cross the line where you yourself become the unfeeling seeker-of-revenge that, in its own way, expresses the same lack of empathy the vivisectors require to do their deeds. There was a fly-on-the-wall documentary on British television this week featuring animal rights protestors that included those responsible for the grave robbery. Their whole perspective had been focussed on closing down the guinea pig farm to that point where anything goes. I can understand the frustration, but once you concede your perspective to myopia you are a disaster waiting to happen. So they caused one guinea pig farm to close by stealing a woman's body and throwing it in a wood. On the face of it the closure is good for the animals, but the breeding will just move elsewhere. What a great example of Gandhi's quote: 'I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.' Only when vivisection is banned will all the breeding centres and the whole despicable system close down. And this end will not come through violence and intimidation. It just hands the aces to the perpetrators of animal cruelty. What good will these four people do for animals now from their prison cells? Will they be martyrs? Maybe, in the eyes of fellow Myopians, but to others, whose minds need to change for animal suffering to end, they will be a symbol that tars all campaigners for the cause. Legitimate protest, campaigns of non-cooperation and peaceful disruption, yes. Violence, never. The media and political reaction to the court hearing and sentence has condemned the actions of the four in a way that tarnishes the public perception of campaigners who would never even consider such a violent approach. Those responsible, and massively profiting, from animal cruelty have even taken the moral high ground in the last few days because of what has happened. I think it is time for some balance here because if the animal extremists can be accused of gross hypocrisy, and they can, they have serious contenders for the same crown from the vivisection industry. The sad thing is that extremism of any kind can only ever see one extreme. It can never see its own and thus not appreciate that it is fighting its own mirror image. Tony Blair condemned what he called the 'appalling actions of animal rights extremists', and pledged, against normal protocol, to sign a 'People's Petition' in favour of animal experimentation. He told the Sunday Telegraph: 'The appalling details of the campaign of intimidation - which include grave-robbing - show the depths to which the animal extremists are prepared to stoop.' Yes, what they did was terrible, but let us take a breath here and consider that the man mouthing those words has made decisions, and told blatant lies, that have led to the death and suffering of hundreds of thousands in Iraq and elsewhere. The depths to which Blair is prepared to stoop. Just two of the children killed by the military in Iraq in a war based on lies. The stench of hypocrisy fills the air Shareholders of the drug company GlaxoSmithKline were also sent letters by the four campaigners threatening to publish their names on the Internet if they did not sell-up and Blair is using this as an opportunity to change the law to make it possible for companies to keep their shareholders secret. His controllers never miss a trick. In the last few days we have been presented with the sickening sight of animal testing extremists condemning the extremism of animal rights campaigners and claiming to be the force of morality in the argument. Okay, we shall see if they are. Vivisection literally means 'cutting while still alive', but today it is used to describe any experimentation or testing on animals. It involves keeping animals in cages, poisoning them, mutilating them, giving them diseases and killing them in the name of serving the interests of human 'health'. It is actually there to serve the interests of the Illuminati transnational pharmaceutical cartel and the vested interests that contract with them. The truth is that, despite the lies of the political and business establishment, horrific, unimaginable experimentation is going on behind the ever-closed doors that would make Attila the Hun look like Mary Poppins. The organisation, Uncaged, won a legal battle to publish leaked documents detailing pig-to-primate organ transplant experiments at the notorious Huntington 'Life' Sciences laboratories. Pig hearts and kidneys were transplanted into the necks and abdomens of hundreds of monkeys. The Home Office considered these 'experiments' (exercises in gross torture) to be of only 'moderate severity'. What does high severity involve then?? And wait for this ... 58% of animal experiments are listed as 'moderate' or worse. The people responsible for this have the nerve to condemn animal rights campaigners as 'extremists' and Tony Blair says he will sign a petition in support of these unspeakable crimes The monkeys were given lethal doses of immune system suppressants in a ludicrous attempt to prevent transplant rejection. These were some of the comments in the documents from 'researchers' involved: '... Very distressed and having difficulty breathing ... animal collapsed ... uncoordinated limb spasms ... suffered a stroke ... retching and salivating ... abdomen swollen and appears fluid filled ... very laboured breathing ... extreme difficulty trying to walk ... large volume of bloody mucoid faeces ... collapsed on cage floor, appears weak and unable to get up, breathing shallow and rapid, salivating, heavy-lidded eyes, body and limb tremors.' So do I understand what makes animal rights campaigners so angry and committed? Absolutely. What is happening is beyond words and, personally, I have no problem with people breaking into these animal concentration camps to take the pictures that expose what is going on. Would someone breaking into the Nazi concentration camps to expose what was happening be condemned? No, they'd be given a medal. So what's the difference? Life is life is life. It's not breaking the law that I challenge, most laws are there to protect injustice and self-interest, anyway. It is violence and intimidation. The question is how best the cause is served and becoming what you condemn is not the way. If we do so, we are allowing the dehumanised to dehumanise us. The number of animals subjected to laboratory experiments is huge. The British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection estimates that 100 million animals are experimented on around the world every year, ten to eleven million of them in the European Union and 1,101,958 in the United States in 2004. The figures show that most animals are used in one 'procedure' (which could go on for weeks, months or years) and they either die because of the experiment or are killed and dissected. Around three million animals are used every year in the UK alone and more than half - 1,710,760 in 2004 - are conducted without anaesthetic. You can expect the same or worse elsewhere. Types of animals used in UK experiments - something similar will happen around the world. This cruelty and suffering on a gigantic scale is 'justified' by the fact that it is claimed to serve human health. Jean-Pierre Garnier, chief executive officer of GlaxoSmithKline, gave this reaction to Blair's support for animal testing: 'I am greatly encouraged by his personal commitment, and that of his government, to ensuring an environment in the UK that is conducive to the research and development of vital new medicines.' Self-interest is a powerful force in the human psyche and this is why it is used, not only by the vivisectors, but across a whole range of subjects. Personally, I don't care even if it does serve human health. Any 'health' that comes from such cruelty is not worth having. But, in truth, it doesn't. 'The idea, as I understand it, is that fundamental truths are revealed in laboratory experimentation on lower animals and are then applied to the problems of the sick patient. Having been myself trained as a physiologist, I feel in a way competent to assess such a claim. It is plain nonsense.' -Sir George Pickering, Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford. As usual, the perceived human benefit looks rather different with a bit of research. For a start, humans and animals are not the same genetically - you may have noticed - and thus what does not harm animals can harm humans and the other way round. The physiological differences only need to be very small to affect the outcome. By the early 1960s, epidemiologists (who study the causes, distribution, and control of disease in populations) had identified the strong connection between smoking and lung cancer. But because they couldn't make the same connection in animal experiments the link was dismissed and health warnings delayed. In the earliest smoking experiments beagles were strapped side-by-side to a long bench and fitted with face masks, which forced them to inhale and exhale smoke from lighted cigarettes. A mechanical device lit a new cigarette and dropped it into the air line as soon as an old one was used up. And for what? To give a false result for the human effects. For 25 years, research on rhesus monkeys led scientists to believe that the poliomyelitis virus entered through the nose when in humans, it eventually turned out, it enters through the intestinal tract. How many lives were lost while the animal experiments pointed in the wrong direction? The notorious drugs, Thalidomide, Opren, FIAU and Eraldin with their serious and often fatal side-effects were all tested on animals without the same consequences. The diabetic drug, Troglitazone, passed all animal tests and yet was withdrawn after three months for causing 130 cases of liver failure and six deaths. Confirmation of the irrelevance of animal testing to human outcome was the case of the cancer drug, Tamoxifen. Animal experiments showed the drug can cause cancer of the liver in rats and gonadal tumours in mice. These results were ignored by the drug company and the authorities because the cancers occurred in animals and not humans! Tamoxifen is now widely prescribed. The consequences of animal-tested thalidomide Ironically, animal testing of new drugs became mandatory following Thalidomide, which had been animal tested. Yet in 2004 the arthritis drug Vioxx was exposed as the greatest drug catastrophe in history. Adverse drug reactions are the fourth leading cause of death, killing over 10,000 people a year in the UK alone. Some other reasons why the benefits of animal experimentation are a myth: Several published studies assessing the prediction of drug side-effects by animal testing found them to be correct only 5-25% of the time. 92% of drugs fail in clinical trials after passing animal studies. Scores of treatments for strokes have tested safe and effective in animals in recent years but not a single one has been safe and effective for patients. 82% of doctors in an independent survey in 2004 were 'concerned that animal data can be misleading when applied to humans and 83% would 'support an independent scientific evaluation of the clinical relevance of animal experimentation'. The Toxicology Working Group of the House of Lords Select Committee on Animals in Scientific Procedures in 2002 recommended that 'the reliability and relevance of all existing animal tests should be reviewed as a matter of urgency'. A 2004 paper in the British Medical Journal concluded that 'the contribution of animal studies to clinical medicine requires urgent formal evaluation'. Source: Protecting Animals In Democracy - http://www.vote4animals.org.uk/edm92.htm Professor Vernon Coleman, who was my family doctor 30 years ago, has been a vociferous campaigner against animal experimentation and was asked to appear before that 2002 House of Lords Select Committee investigating vivisection. It was said that, without animal experitments, drugs would have to be tested in human trials, but Coleman rightly pointed out that this already happens anyway: Lord Lucas: If thalidomide was new and introduced today under your system then it would be expected that the only way you would discover its effects would be when it started having those effects on humans. Professor Coleman: Yes, which is exactly what happened under the old system. Lord Lucas: And we would take that risk and we would understand that risk? Professor Coleman: Which is exactly the risk we took before but we were not enough aware of the risk. Under my system, were some strange god to come down and say 'Vernon, you can now rule the world as far as drug testing is concerned', we must not roll out one drug all around the world and let millions, or in the case of Thalidomide many thousands of women, take that drug before we have done a proper epidemiological testing, a proper testing on people. That is one of the great scandals-another scandal-that the present system allows a drug company to get a drug through the animal testing procedure and then through the quite small human testing procedure and then, bam, they can sell it all around the world for three, four, five years, and then, and only then, do people start to realise 'Oh my God, this is Thalidomide' or 'Oh my God it is one of the 60 drugs a year, or whatever it is, that have to be pulled because they prove to be dangerous'. (See Vernon Coleman's website at http://www.vernoncoleman.com/index.htm) Animals and humans both suffer from vivisection and the false findings it produces. The picture on the left speaks for itself while the other shows a distraught woman outside the Northwick Park Hospital in London in March who had been told that her boyfriend was dangerously ill after testing a drug already tested on animals. There are many ways to test drugs without the flawed irrelevance of animal experiments. These include human cell and tissue cultures and computer models, among others, which can eliminate as much as possible the potential consequences of human testing. Look at the dangers to human testers now given that animals and humans are not the same. Only in March six men became dangerously ill after testing a drug at London's Northwick Hospital. They will possibly suffer the consequences for the rest of their lives and when you read their accounts the effect was immediate. Yet the drug had been tested on animals with no such response. Far safer methods of testing would already have been developed had the will been there. But vivisection generates an enormous amount of money for the chain of torture that includes universities, regulatory bodies, pharmaceutical companies, scientific journals, animal breeders, and lawyers. Drug companies also protect themselves from law suits by claiming that their animal testing did not predict what a drug would do to humans and thus 'we did everything we could to ensure it was safe'. A German doctor, Werner Hartinger, summed it up when he said: 'There are, in fact, only two categories of doctors and scientists who are not opposed to vivisection: those who don't know enough about it, and those who make money from it.' Appalling suffering for nothing, but profit and self-interest Unfortunately, it has not been a good week for those who want to see an end to animal testing because, thanks to the court case of the four jailed campaigners, all the publicity has been in favour of the callous killers involved in vivisection. As Alistair Currie, Campaigns Director of the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, said: 'We hope that the sentencing of the activists who have admitted responsibility for the utterly unacceptable tactics used against Darley Oaks Farm will mark the end of this depressing chapter. 'This was an ugly campaign against an ugly business. These four people must face the consequences of their crimes but we are now anxious to see the focus of this debate go back to where it belongs - on the waste and animal suffering that takes place inside the labs.' Yes, it should, and with still greater vigour. For, as Gandhi said: 'If ever there were a blackest of all black sin committed against God and his fair creation, vivisection is surely it.' The challenge for those who vehemently oppose these horrors is to avoid being victim to what I call the golden rule of polarity: What you fight, you become. ONE AND THE SAME .... "It used to be very hard and complicated to do this, but it no longer is in the Bush administration," said a senior federal official. Nuclear is back on agenda - Blair (As David Icke always said it would be) 'Prime Minister Tony Blair is set to give his strongest signal yet that he backs the building of a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. Continental Integration of Military Command Structures: A Threat to Canada's Sovereignty 'The issue of continental integration of military command structures has been on the US-Canada agenda since April 2002. Until recently, it has barely been mentioned by the Canadian media. Territorial control over Canada is part of Washington's geopolitical and military agenda as formulated in April 2002 by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. "Binational integration" of military command structures is also contemplated alongside a major revamping in the areas of immigration, law enforcement and intelligence.' Read more ... More 9/11 connections Interesting confluence of activities surround Sky Way's aircraft confiscated in Mexico with 5.5 tons of cocaine and pre-911 Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) investigation of Israeli art students involved in suspicious activities in Dallas-Fort Worth area and Venice, Florida in close proximity to some of the 911 hijackers. That DEA investigation was shut down on orders from Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller. This is a further clue that those who planned and carried out the 911 attacks were heavily involved with drug smuggling. These reportedly include elements of Russian-Israeli-Ukrainian (RUIM) organized crime, Latin American narco-dealers, U.S. operatives of the radical right-wing Israeli Kach Party, Saudi billionaire businessmen and Pakistani intermediaries, and political officials close to the GOP in Texas and Florida. For example, links have been established between Red Sea Management in Costa Rica, a company linked to the Sky Way cocaine plane, and the Israeli embassy in San Jose. 'Italian journalists and parliamentary investigators are hot on the trail of how pre-Iraq War Italian forged documents were delivered to the White House alleging that Saddam Hussein had obtained yellowcake uranium ore from Niger. New links implicating Italian companies and individuals with then-Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi now raise the question of whether Berlusconi received a payback as part of the deal -- namely, a Pentagon contract to build the U.S. president's special fleet of helicopters.' Former NSA officer alleges illegal activities under new CIA chief Hayden 'A former intelligence officer for the National Security Agency said he plans to tell Senate staffers next week that unlawful activity occurred at the agency under the supervision of Gen. Fascist America: The thicko thugs from the Tennessee police (If only this was a rarity) 'When Tennessee law enforcement officials showed up at the home of Lester Siler, who they suspected of drug use, they asked Lester's wife and son to leave. They didn't know that Lester's wife had turned on a tape recorder in the kitchen. When Lester exercised his constitutional right not to sign a consent to search his house, these officers spent the next two hours torturing him. They beat him with bats and guns, held loaded guns to his head, threatened to shoot him, dunked his head in the toilet, burned him with lighters, attached his testicles to a battery charger, threatened to cut off his fingers, and threatened to "go get" his wife and take his child away from him. Then they arrested him for "evading arrest". It wasn't until the wife's recording made it to the FBI that all hell broke loose.' After contacting a U.S. intelligence source, we were told that Department of Justice (DoJ) investigators have identified an Israeli intelligence internet provider in Amsterdam as a co-conspirator with both the National Security Agency (NSA) and Verizon-MCI in the ongoing Bush administration spy intrusion into the private and personal lives of millions of Americans without their previous knowledge or permission.' But just because the story wasn't true didn't mean it couldn't be put to good use. Al-Haideri, in fact, was the product of a clandestine operation -- part espionage, part PR campaign -- that had been set up and funded by the CIA and the Pentagon for the express purpose of selling the world a war. And the man who had long been in charge of the marketing was a secretive and mysterious creature of the Washington establishment named John Rendon.' Read more ... Why NORAD Interceptors Couldn't Catch Those 9/11 Boeings 'One of the most sacred beliefs about the four jumbo jets hijacked on September 11th, 2001, was that terrified passengers tried to communicate with those safe on the earth. The recent movie, "Flight 93," elevates this belief to a sacrament. In order to verify that cell phones would have functioned, a test would have had to be performed in 2001, from a Boeing 757-767, moving erratically through the sky, often at low elevation. To my recollection, none were ever performed by any researcher, and certainly no reporter in the mainstream media.Because NORAD fighter pilots never VISUALLY verified what happened aboard those four Boeings on 9-11, we will never know what occurred in the most crucial part of the plane, the cockpit. Instead we have been given play-by-play cell phone accounts of what occurred. Some of the accounts remain perplexing to say the least.' Read more ...
