My personal views it that stress is part of the present day lifeeverywhere. In IITs, since the expectation level ofstudents/parents/friends/teachers is higher, this might be causing higherstress. Reviewing the IIT system, and improving it as far as possible to bemore compassionate towards students, is definitely important, and is anessential part of the solution. Can/should we also consider Yoga and Meditation as another part of thesolution? Having some Yoga/Meditation hall/room/center and having an experienced teacher/coach there, sounds like a very good option to me. If Yoga and Meditation are available in campus, and/or are encouraged in campus, students will opt for it. The practising students will definitely benefit not only in terms of educational excellence but also in terms of being more equanmious in adverse situations. I believe that this will make each individual student strong. So, as one part of solution we try making the IIT system more compassionate towards students, and as another part of solution we make each student more strongto handle situations. I invite further thoughts/comments/criticisms on this.
