Guest guest
Organic food is produced in India by poorest people who cannot even afford any chemical based fertilizers and pesticides. Many areas in so called undeveloped India, have maintained farming by natural means, composting and growing vegetables and cereals. In north east, in Orrisa and Bengal, there are farmers who never used chemicals in field. Farmers by error (using chemicals) are getting money by killing others. Very recently, one of my friends sold his house in Delhi and with that money, purchased approx 10 acres of farmland in Haryana where he produces own food, and he is now independent from rest of the world. He does not sell the production neither he buys outside food. All products are used by staff, animals, and home owner. Same is case with my parents who have similar arrangement. Are we returning to our age old subsistence life? Regards K G On Behalf Of Jane MacRoss Wednesday, April 19, 2006 7:09 PM To: Organic I buy organic for the reasons already mentioned - i would prefer to eat less and know that its safe - which costs the same as to eat food and know you're not safe from chemical contamination - the latter way can cost you in the end - with medical bills and sickness. So the good point is that people who want organic are prepared to pay more and leave the non-organic for people who eat cheap and don't care - if they don't care about what they eat they probably don't care about their health anyway?
