The (fake) Maharashtra Eradication of Black Magic, Evil and Aghori Practices Bill, 2005 (known as Black Magic Bill) has now been submitted to the Upper House for ratification. If approved, Maharashtra will have a draconian law. Here are some of the bill's potential impacts: 1. 2. The bill is intended to arrest saints and devotees as declared by ANS.

3. This bill is about religious issues, but non believers have drafted the bill and no saint of Guru from any religion was called by Government to have opinion on bill.

4. Government is trying to pass this mass impact bill with most secrecy. Due to effort of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS), the facts have came in light. So the bill is amended more than 5 times in session.

5. In last session government made this bill an prestige issue and passed it on basis of majority even though opposition had strongly condemned the bill and asked numerous amendments and deep study.
