Dear Nileshji, Namaste. We are all scientific and reasonable people. My basic education was in science, and biology was my favourite subject. I am not crying hoarse against modern medicine without reason. You will be astonished to know that even mainstream doctors and scientists are not happy at the way medicine is progressing without paying heed to the ground situation and warnings from conscientious doctors. The basic premise of modern medicine, reductionism i.e. breaking the body into individual parts and treating them separately is a horrendous mistake. The other mistake is the inordinate attention on viruses as the cause of disease. These two basic faults have led to a situation where the immune system of the general population has taken a tremendous beating. Whereas ALL other therapies are based upon immunity building and toxin removal, modern medicine has paid scant attention

to these vital aspects. The other systems realise the importance of nurturing the spiritual-mental-emotional-vital-moral aspects of human existence. Good health depends on peaceful existence at various levels, only one of which, the physical body which is the least important part of our existence, is material. If you read my posts in various groups you will realise what I am trying to say. Illness is not just physical, it has got other ramifications also. By its inordinate emphasis on the physical body, modern medicine has opened the floodgates of corruption in all spheres. You have to carefully study the various holistic systems and comprehend their message to fully understand what havoc has been caused by this so called "scientific" system of medicine. Spirituality is not charlatanism. It is the life blood of India. Buddha, Ramakrishna, Ramana Maharshi, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, Mahatma

Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subhas were no charlatans. It is not for nothing that the early politicians and social thinkers opposed the cold shouldering of spiritual concerns by the Nehru government. Nehru, being educated outside India, was sadly out of touch with the spiritual base of India. Incidentally it was he who ushered in the era of corruption. Therefore please realise that health is not a small issue. On this vital issue depends the rebuilding of India. Modern medicine has interefered with the energy flow of the body and made man worse than an animal. All the finer qualities that distinguish the divine nature of man have been trashed and baser desires put in place by the faulty policies of the so called "secular" governments. Secularism does not mean Godlessness but the equal importance of all religions. The animal propensities have to be now countered and man should become human once again if

India has to free itself of the ills that plagues it today. We are not descendants of monkeys though the rationalists derive great pleasure from thinking so. We are the descendants of Rishis, our God like ancestors, who delved deep into the mysteries of the Universe and gave us the Vedas. Therefore we must now try to see through the wool that is interfering with our vision. Material comforts are not the goal of life. This is amply proved by the tremendous dissatisfaction that has gripped the Western civillisation and which is now driving people in hordes towards the Eastern philosophies. While the West is now turning towards ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy, homeopathy and hinduism we are still enamoured by a false science. This is the pity. Regards, Jagannath. Regarding false claims please check up the number of drugs and devices recently pulled off from the market by the FDA after public outroar (Reported in the New York Times under the heading, "Drugs, Devices, and Doctors"). In a TV debate in India a modern medico declared how "only 2 deaths" was enough to pull Vioxx from the market. The doctor did not inform about the 1,12,000 severe heart attack cases which prompted the outroar. Now who is lying? The NY Times also

reported how private funding of research is leading to falsification of research findings. Modern medicine thrives purely due to government and private patronage that has made it a monopoly. But the holistic methods have survived despite threats, attacks and unscientific domination. People who are devastated by modern medicine go to these methods and obtain relief. This is not science but medical fascism and must be condemned in the strongest terms. It is unfortunate that people whose duty is to deliver the

The phenomenon called life is purely a bio-chemical phenomenon and there is nothing spiritual about it. The origin of the hypothesis of spirit lies in a pure speculative thinking which is not backed by any empirical evidence. We need to reject this hypothesis in the absence of any concrete evidence and try to understand the bio-chemical reality of the phenomenon of life to the extent possible to benefit from that knowledge. Medical Science has been doing exactly that and will be doing so for the larger interests of the humanity or mankind. Spirituality can only create illusions in the weak minds (and that is exactly the reason why they emphasise so much on the devotion and faith), but it cannot achieve anything

substantial.Whether you possess the faith or not, poison will kill you and medicines will cure you because of their bio-chemical properties. You need not have faith in either bullets or bullet-proof jackets to work, they will or will not work according to their material properties. But that is not the case with spirituality and it is claimed that it works according to the level of faith and all that bogus things.
