Quackery in holistic health sector.

Dear Shaukatji,

I share your concern. There are many practitioners in India who are

practicing without a licence. While some are well meaning, many are

there to earn a fast buck.

I think the continued negligence of the sector has led to this problem.

Coupled with this is the tendency of mainstream doctors to shun rural

postings. The govt is also not ready, due to pressure from the Medical

Council of India, to post ayurveds or homeopaths to primary health

centres in rural areas.

Moreover ironically it is the quacks who are at least giving some help

to the rural population. Most of the allopathic quacks are erstwhile

assistants of doctors, homeopaths are the self taught ones, while the

ayurveds are descendants of earlier ayurveds who have learnt from their

ancestors. If these people would not have been there the health sector

in rural areas would have collapsed.

I have always said that qualified ayurveds and homeopaths should be

given their due share in the govt health machinery. It is the vested

interests who will not let this happen.

Regards,

Jagannath.

the world has blessings for hummanity. But commercial intersts
