Guest guest
Diabetes (Type II) is not understood properly by modern science. It is ama, which causes onset of disease and further progress. In a nutshell, when ama shows up as gall stones in liver, gall bladder, the path of bile gets blocked, so bile takes an alternate route through pancreas. This disturbs the equilibrium of pancreas, secreting more insulin giving rise to hypoglycemia in the beginning. So we start eating more foods which will cause more sugar to develop, which offsets bouts of hypoglycemia. Pancreas get exhaused soon, start producing less insulin continuously but when bile takes the route through pancreas suddenly more insulin. Hence unstable sugar levels in blood. On the other hand body cells do not need sugar and insulin alone to produce energy. Just as in ayurveda, combination of herbs balances the toxicity of other herbs and works more harmoniously, cells too need minerals, oxygen, glucose to produce energy. Catalysts for this get missed, if insulin alone is present and makes function of other glands also hanky- panky, e.g. ovaries in PCOS disease. This is how diabetes affects fertility too. With the kind of life we live in metros, with less oxygen in air and therefore blood, mineral deficiency caused by removal of minerals from salt (to iodise it), by lack of vegetables soups, fruits in diet and pesticide residues, nitrogen compounds due to chemical fertilisers etc, cells loose capability to use glucose. about oxygen, author already wrote in a previous post on " breathing techniques " . Thus blood sugar keeps increasing slowly and chemical medicines of modern science, which earlier were able to control sugar by hyperstimulation of pancreas, slowly loose effectiveness. Body develops chemical drug tolerance to many other drugs aimed at treating the problems of central nervous system as well, e.g. pain killers of all types, especially opioids, steroidal ones. Modern science then has to suppliment pancreat function by animal insulin. As this insulin is not acceptable to body, and slowly arteries start hardening, giving rise to hypertension and also reduced renal function. So patient starts marching towards graveyard, dialysis giving him some life extension. The insulin resistance developed by a patient can be gradually reduced, especially for patients aged less than 60 by ayurvedic approach. Role of fats in diabetes is to the extent that depending on their digestibility, they produce more or less ama(toxins), sugar etc. Fats make the liver sluggish due to its accumulation in liver, and less hormones are made (which drive pancreas to produce more or less insulin). By use of breathing techniques, liver medication, panch Gavya (ayurvedic) medicines, this author experimented on some type 2 diabetics in advanced stage and the best result is that a patient, diabetic for more than 20 years on daily I.V. insulin dose of 40 units and b.p. more than 160, is now on insulin 6 units every alternate day, and b.p. rarely exeeds 130. Urine output increased from 400 ml per day to 1600 ml per day, in a treatment of 6 months. Blood reports on Creatinin, Uric acid however indicate that about 15% glomerules are still not functioning well. But he now knows that he is on recovery. Other patients taking only ayurvedic medicines are able to keep their blood sugar in normal limits and all body functions, incl. fertility well. Daily walk of 3 kms is one strongest medicine that they take. One pateint is without any medicine, but walks 6 kms early morning. So, diabetes not only can be controlled but defeated as well. Lastly, all diabetic patients of this author, from day 1 of the treatment, start four soaked dates in breakfast. In a month, their craving for sugary sweets vanishes. Suagar, the number one toxin in food, affects nervous system by reducing calcium in the blood, giving rise to more musculoskeletal pains as well. Hope this is sufficient. Guest guest
Excellent post Dr Bhate !!! Only today The Indian Express carried an article that a " genetic defect " in Indians was the cause behind diabetes. Guest guest
Fantastic article, thanks Dr Bhate. It could also be that there is a genetic predisposition for diabetes as well could it not? If a nation has bad habits long enough would it not eventually become genetic? Jane - jagchat01 Monday, January 16, 2006 5:22 PM Re: Diabetes, some more points Excellent post Dr Bhate !!!
