Failure of Modern Medicine.

Dear Subhasish, When Hellen Keller was asked about the greatest irony on earth, she replied, "To have eyes and not to see". Today all of us suffer from this peculiar kind of blindness. Considering the attitude of this age, of which I too am a part of, even if Lord Vishnu were to come and stand before us we would certainly negate him and blame the vision on an unsound mind. It took me decades of personal pain and unnecessary suffering to probe into what is euphemistically termed "modern medicine" and understand it . My own surmise tallies with that of a prophetic devotee of Lord Jagannath (Achyutananda Das, a favourite of Sri Caitanya) who predicted around 500 years ago, "Roga na janibe, nidana na janibe, vaidya bolaibe". Translated from Oriya it means, "(In the kali yuga will emerge a group of people who..) will not know anything of disease, neither of cure but will be revered as

doctors." Modern medicine is worse. Now personal feelings apart, let us consider certain aspects; 1. The sudden epidemic of chronic ailments. 2. Rapid onset of organ failures. 3. The progressive complexities of disease. 4. The rising degree of pain. 5. Rise of "age related" diseases in teenagers and infants. 6. Exponential increase in psychiatric disorders. 7. Behavioural disorders cutting across all sections of society. I think if we contemplate the above points with a level head we should come to the just conclusion that all is not well with the "medical system" that is in charge of our health. What really infuriates me is that this system is still not done with experimenting, even after ruling the roost for more than three centuries. God alone knows how much

longer we will have to patiently wait before it stumbles upon the facts that have been already enumerated by other systems that were in place long before the current abomination spread to all parts of the globe. None of the premises of allopathy hold water as is brought out by the fact that subsequent research continues to negate the older findings. When my own suffering was at it's peak and my relatives from the medical community advised me patience there was just one thing I told them, "First let your system come to some definite conclusions then I will reconsider my decision to search for alternatives". I was fed up of being a guinea pig. You have said that I have only talked about a conceptual failure. I don't understand but if the basic concept is wrong then does it not negate all other subsequent developments? You cannot face east, start walking and then hope to go west !! Epidemics showed

their vile face in India long after allopathy had established itself. The loss of immunity in a mass scale was caused by intense poverty and man made famines. We were just emerging from a dark age where all our accomplishments were parodied as garbage so that a new "civillisation" could take its place. Our own medical system had been effectively destroyed. People were forced to pray to deities for relief. Entire villages were wiped out before the British even acknowledged the problem. It was only after independance that some effort was made to introduce the concept of hygiene. Elsewhere in Europe, fresh from two World War's, epidemics appeared. It was during these epidemics that the role of homeopathy was put to test by doubting Thomases. In all those studies homeopathy came out with flying colours. Major mainstream hospitals openly admitted that patients under homeopathic medicines had "miraculously survived". But those experiments were not given the

publicity it deserved. No one likes to admit defeat, more so against an "unscientific" system of medicine. I must mention that just after the War, millions were affected and died with the Spanish flu. The people of Spain were enraged that a disease which killed no Spanish people carried the name of their nation. It was the American soldiers who were affected and spread the illness. Today it is well known that a certain vaccine used to vaccinate the American troops had brought on the epidemic. Science also has its own dark secrets it does not want others to know. Even the current bird flu scare has its origin to certain pharmaceutical majors in which members of the Bush cabinet have invested millions. Bush too saw the scare as an oppurtunity to push through draconian laws to curb the personal freedom of American citizens. However the vaccine majors have refused to tow the line unless they are accorded absolute

immunity from law suits. Already many vaccine makers face damages which may well put them out of business. Even the drug manufacturers have claimed immunity. I think the law has already been passed in their favour. In today's world of scams and sleaze science has its own uses. Regarding the heavy metal issue, it is the Ministry of Health, Govt of India that has taken the initiative to question the findings of Canadian and Korean scientists. Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, MD, has personally written to the two governments to hand over the research papers so that Indian scientists can verify the same. Earlier Ms Sushma Swaraj had also done the same. Till today no answer is forthcoming. This has infuriated the Health Minister and he has sanctioned the money to AYUSH - Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy - to have a full fledged international standard laboratory of their own so that no other country can point fingers at

ayurvedic formulations. Unless corruption takes its toll this laboratory will soon come up. Himalaya Drugs already have a state of the art laboratory of their own and they have proved that the findings of the foreign scientists wrong. Another laboratory of very high standards has been set up by Swami Ramdev at his Ayurvedic Research Center, Uttaranchal. I think very soon the heavy metal issue will become a non issue. Regarding the flawed virus theory I have already posted an article on that. Regards, Jagannath. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon

on the Mount. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. -- General Omar Bradley
