Guest guest
Hazel, I never heard of G-Chem. I will look into it. It was mentioned to add a total of 3-10 drops maximun of total EOs per ounce. She suggested to add 1 drop benzoin, 2 drops tea tree, and 4 drops lavender and 800IU vit. e. per ounce. I always want to learn more!! ) Take care, Renee
Guest guest
I think G-Chem is a substitute for Germaben, but I could be wrong. (I have been wrong on occasion, but don't tell my kids!) ;^) Hazel
Guest guest
Since I haven't followed this conversation in total, I might be off here, but: Assuming the salve does not contain any water, but only oils, waxes and the like, it does not need any anti-microbial preservative. No bugs will grow in it. However, if you want to use an antioxidant, which will extend the 'shelf life' of vegetable oils (they will not oxidize or go rancid as quickly), you can look at using: - Rosemary extract or 'Amiox " - this one is the best, as good as a number of synthetic antioxidants such as BHA and BHT. - Ascorbyl palmitate - or an oil-soluble form of Vitamin C - or d-tocopherol (Vitamin E) - but not Vitamin E ACETATE, which does not have direct antioxidant properties. Hope that helps. Cheers, Ron Guba Essential Therapeutics - <rja86 Wednesday, July 11, 2001 7:51 AM [AX] RE: salve preservative > Hazel, > I never heard of G-Chem.
