Or am I just getting old/ > (no need to answer that question.<G>) > Thanks > Hi there, I understand that the EO supplied from Madagascar and Comoro Islands is called Cananga odorata forma genuina hook fils et Thompson but you can also get Cananga odorata macrophylla. I have been assured (by those that know much more about this topic than me) that two are quite different - so you need to know the botanical species. The first quoted is the one you want. You can get six fractions of the former. They are:- Ylang Complete Ylang Extra Superior Ylang Extra Ylang first Ylang second Ylang third I understand that the Ylang Complete is the 'pure' distilled oil and the other five are fractions. Also, the quality can vary considerably, depending on the distiller, and time of year distilled. There is a lot to understand about Y/Ylang and if we are lucky one or two others (who know much more) may post here. Anyway, I hope that little bit helps ....... Guest guest
Thank you. I am thinking that I got a bad batch of the Ylang ylang as it just does not smell right. Will return it and try again. One batch of bath salts I made ended up smelling like bad fish. It was almost gaggy to smell. I tried just a drop or two of the YY with some patchoulli and it still did not smell right. Think it is time to return it for another. It appears I got the lowest grade as it is. Sigh! We live we learn, eh? <lol> Just glad I did not make a very big batch of anything and dump it in there before testing it. Looking forward to learning more about ylang ylang. Thanks again to those who replied with info. , " Richard " <richard.aromatherapy@b...> wrote: >
