Guest guest
Has anyone had any experience of using EO's to alleviate some of the symptoms of Crohn's Disease? I have a friend who has suffered with the disease since her teens. As well as very sensitive digestion, she suffers from bouts of inflammation with her large intestine and also suffers from arthritis, fluid retention and asthma which are also linked to the condition or medication she has to take. She has just come off of long term steroid use and is trying a new drug which suppresses the immune system so I am reluctant to use any immune stimulating EO's. I really don't know where to start. -- Jo
Guest guest
Hi Jo, I'm a new member of the group -- can't offer any help with your question, as I'm not an aromatherapist (yet), but I *have* suffered with CD (no longer), so am very interested in any responses to your question. I truly empathize with what your friend is going through, and wish her the best! Guest guest
How can you no longer have CD? It's an incurable condition unless you know something I don't. I've had CD for 10 years-have had extensive surgery for it. I am living with the condition every day. If you've got a cure for CD you could make millions, but I'm afraid I don't believe it. As for the original question,I missed it the first time, sorry. I use EO's in a complimentary way, for stress relief. I massage my abdomen when the inflammation is bad. CD is caused partly by stress, so look at it from that angle. It's far too serious an illness to tamper with-I strongly believe AT is a complimentary therapy and this is an example of how it should be used-in a complimentary way. Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh but I have been close to dying on several occasions, and have adjusted to the fact I need medical support for the rest of my life. We are not doctors, and should know our limits. Just the removal of the offending body part -- just short of 24 years ago. I know what it is to be dying; surgery gave me my life back, and I am fortunate to have never had any progression of the disease. > As for the original question,I missed it the first time, sorry. I use AT for stress-related headache and for migraine. Sometimes, if I'm quick enough, I can prevent the headache from getting too bad, but usually the AT and massage is to relieve stress and thus pain. The original message is #2089 -- I'm not going to quote it here, but Jo is looking for info from anyone who has some experience using EOs to alleviate symptoms associated with CD. Maybe you could post what works for you? Jeanine Holding you in my thoughts, with a prayer that a cure *will* be found!
