Macular degeneration is the deterioration of the macular,the central part of

the retina where colour vision and fine resolution of detail are sharpest.

With age, blood vessels in the choroid layer behind the retina constrict,

and blood flow to the densely packed cones in the macula decreases, central

vision becomes blurred and reading becomes increasingly difficult, but the

outer vision remains unaffected. Unfortunately it is not usually curable,

but constitutional treatment from an experienced homeopath who will probably

recommend a dietary change can prevent further regeneration.

Supplements to diet are zinc, selenium, taurine, vitamins A,B2,C,E and

bioflavoids.

I have a friend with this, who with a lot of patience and a lot of

frustration has taught himself to read out of the side of his eyes where the

vision is unaffected.

Sorry to hear that someone you know has this condition, but try the

homeopathic route and keep smiling.
