Guest guest
Hi Donna, Sherri, Annette, Cindy and everyone If one is dealing with a medical condition such as cysts in the breasts, I really think it is important to be quite clear when giving advice. To say <We have them mix frankincense, lavender and acceptance in a carrier oil put it on the breast area three to four times a day> is not acceptable. How much frankincense and which lavender? What is 'acceptance'? Latin names would be preferable. Which carrier? How much was applied? I agree that the emotional issues can be well dealt with using aromatherapy. Then someone says <We used Oregano on a cyst two weeks ago with great results. Its a hot oil and really " lights you up " She used it neat.> Those of you who have been on this list for a while will know me and my ideas of safety. I don't think oregano should be used neat on anything. It's a skin irritant. How fortunate we are in this country (South Africa) that a bill has been passed two weeks ago in Parliament that allows for the registration of therapeutic aromatherapists. This will ensure that only people who are properly trained in all aspects of anatomy, physiology and pathology as well as the use of essential oils will be able to practise. These therapists will also know when to refer to another health professional. In the case of breast cysts, I think I would refer the patient to a doctor, and treat the patient myself only for the emotional aspects of the problem.
